We’ve had word from our energy company that our direct debit from April onwards will be double the current amount. How’s everyone else fared?

I haven’t been given a new amount yet but the annual cost especially for gas is unbelievable. My DD was recently increased as of the next payment but like fetch I think it needs to go up again and will be just over double what I originally paid |

Just spotted this in the Politics thread, which I watch, and hot-footed it over here (paying through the nose for said heating of foot!!!) to comment. I've just taken the plunge to lock in for one year at just over double what we currently pay - I've chosen known, eye-watering over unknown shocks. My direct debit is still the same and it's up to me to decide when to bump it up. I'm currently running in credit and have made a one-off payment to make that credit bigger - just waiting to see how that will cushion us for a few months! |

I wish it had taken the fix I was offered back in October now even though that number sounded silly at the time.

No fixed info on my email from the overly "matey" E-On Next (not sure why the next), but the hint is that my bill is going up around £50 per month. From £81pcm. Big squeeze on our household (one earning below median wage, the other on sickness UC)

Looks like I can fix for12 months at same as current variable rate which might be a good offer but I do worry I might be paying over the odds. For an extra £8 a month I could fix for 24 months. I blame Martin Lewis for not taking the offer I had previously ! |

I'm hanging on until things settle down. I have just come off of a fix, and dont want to be in a situation where I fix when all the news seems dire, so I'll hang on to the current price capped tariff, and see where we are in april when the tariff changes (The price cap tariff is MUCH cheaper than current fixes)

I'm the same Bazoaxe - I had a better deal in an email from the supplier about a month ago... but I took a gamble on it staying the same as we got near to the end of our current contract (01 March). Lost that gamble, big time!

Minimag. I am being offered a fix at aprils variable rate but the email says that might be withdrawn any time Interesting I look after my MiLs bills and they are a different supplier. While her payments are going up, it’s not by as much. I wonder if a new supplier is better |

Fixed until April 2023 and incredibly grateful for that fact. I only have the heating on occasionally and then only 1 room. Pay £61/ month on an economy 7 tariff for a 2 bed stonewalled cottage.
