I’ve just send readings and can see a cost for the electricity. Waiting for the gas to be added but looks like it’s more than our current direct debit but will still leave us in credit and hopefully coming into the lighter use period when the prices ramp up I seem to have got my family on side for the first time in 30 years to actually think about energy use which I view as a win |

GimmeMedals, Thanks for the suggestion but I don't have an employer as such, at least not in the conventional sense you are probably thinking of. Nor do I have an office or similar workplace that I could attend (WFH is nothing to do with covid, my organisation has always been this way by choice). There's no chance of getting any help with heating from my work for a whole host of very valid reasons. Blankets, hot water bottles and tea are the best way forward |

In that case, I hope the weather turns much warmer very soon, KinkyS . Old houses are so tricky to get and keep warm in cold weather.

My dad's had notification of his increase, he has storage heaters, so 3 electric tarrifs :- Standard energy : 21p up to 29p Storage heater energy : 18p up to 23p Daily standing charge : 27p to 50p I was expecting the rises in the actual energy prices, but the daily standing charge almost doubling seems a right rip off !!!!! |

I assume being on a fixed deal for another 12 months mean I don’t need to panic yet? It does make me mindful that the house I hopefully buy shouldn’t be any bigger than I need, and ideally cheap to heat. |

I didn’t take the fixed deal up in October when offerred and even the latest increse doesn’t *quite* cost as much as the fix would have (but one more increse will do) But also very angry that the daily standing charge is going up by so much - how is that justified and is Martin Lewis on the case? No gas here, the heating is oil. Usually the boiler goes off over the summer and hot water is heated overnight on economy 7 - Haven’t dared check oil prices |

Standing charge going up I believe is to cover the cost of failed providers?

I assume being on a fixed deal for another 12 months mean I don’t need to panic yet? That's how I understand it, Fields I'm very relieved that I signed up to a 2 year fixed term contract last August. |
