Just had notification from my energy supplier suggesting an increase in my DD from September of 25%. They do show the calculation and I'm OK with that, I had budgeted for slightly more even though I have built up a small credit.

Fixed term contract ends in 5 weeks, just had my renewal letter in, I'm all electric and it's not as bad as I thought it would be :-

Standard units - up 48%
Overnight storage heating units - up 35%
Daily standing charge - up 92% :-(

But this is just a variable tarrif, so prices will no doubt be going up again. WIll call tomorrow and see if they're offering any fixed deals for existing customers, I know some companies are.

What I should have added in the above is that, based on my historical usage, those indivual increases would result in an overall increase of just over 40%

I'm all electric too with Economy 7 but been on standard variable tariff since my supplier went bust. I think with all the speculation about prices over the next 18 months or so would be interesting to see what

...deals might be available. Not sure I'd want to take the risk by taking on a fixed deal as if I get it wrong there are very expensive fees to end the deal early.

I discussed this with my supplier in May and the said they could fix it, but at the October rate, so I would be on a very high rate for 2 years while he said raids will come down again well before that... This is SO energy and I have only positive experiences with them... So I trusted him. At the moment, they are not offering fixed rates.

Just been on the phone to SSE (now part of OVO) - no fixed rate deals for new or existing customers at the moment.
The price cap changes from start of October are getting announced tomorrow he said. Martin Lewis (moneysavingexpert) is predicting an 80% rise over current price cap.

Our fixed rate ends in October
If it's up 80% from last cap we'll have a huge rise as we've been fixed for 2 years
So much for saving for early retirement in next 18 months or so

Yes, I'm banking on prices doubling by January and almost trebling by March.
