I’m no medic but I do wonder if some of those that have been diagnosed to have diabetes with CV19 have not necessarily had it triggered by CV19 but had it undiagnosed & now diagnosed. My only reason for thinking this is the some reports suggested CV19 seemed to disproportionately affect more obese individuals?

No expert but Covid 19 can affect the autoimmune system and diabetes is an autoimmune condition. JR many diabetics get upset by people assuming they got it because of their lifestyle including me. |

I know that much diabetes is nothing to do with weight or diet but given that CV19 does seem to disproportionately affect those who are obese it could well be that they had that type of diabetes but just not had it diagnosed.

Going back to jenny's question about screening, yes cervical screening was stopped for all but a few high risk groups of women. As a couple of people have commented, the screening invites have started again. All this means I finally have a start date for my new job, as there will be work for me to do! Nearly 4 months after I was originally supposed to start. I am worried that getting back into a work routine will be difficult. Plus dealing with whatever social distancing measures that are needed, including a train commute. I've bought a couple of masks. But wfh isn't an option as we're not allowed to read cervical screening samples at home. |

Good luck with your new job MsG - I can understand it must be quite an anxious time, especially with a train commute and the social distancing measures to consider. Funnily enough, having asked the question earlier today, Cervical Screening Wales have issued an update today: cervicalscreeningwales.wales.nhs.uk So, similarly to what you said about screening continuing for some high risks groups, it looks like (logically) they’re prioritising those at more risk when they resume screening. |

FP, no email address and patient access isn't working. Its like my GPs have vanished without a trace! Will try again tomorrow morning though before my hand is forced and the long wait in a cough filled UTC waiting room happens. |
