it's almost a year since dad died
I'm going to "isolate" for 14 days before .... well not shop obviously I will still see hubby who is working then visit
I have an emergency plastic poncho + buff + gloves so I can have a hug
I would hate for her to be alone on that day

@Gooner, here the MIUs/UTCs are doing a sort of screening (limiting the number of people in, and not allowing anyone in with respiratory symptoms) so it might not be as cough filled as feared!

2019 was shit and we hoped 2020 would be better in that oh so optimistic New Year thing

Been a bit shit in 2020 too though!

Still we've had it better than some as we've all stayed healthy and no one has been infected and that's all we can hope for just now

EP I really feel for you and your mam. Is it not possible to socially bubble with her now? Or is she shielding?

My elderly next door neighbour died early January and his poor wife in her 80’s was also poorly. I didn’t get to see her much before we went to Oz and came back to this. She has a lot of health issues so I won’t pop round, I’ve seen her distanced if she & I have been outside at the same time but her daughter and grand daughters are there every day throughout. I am glad she would be lost otherwise.

My wife is finding it very hard to reconcile herself with the decision to have an unattended cremation for her dad last month.

He died of pure "old age" and many of his family were elderly. Most of the younger ones were a long way away. So it would have been just the two of us at the crem and that would have been gruesome.

We did have a Zoom 'raise a dram' in the evening though lol.
