Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Brilliant event, thoroughly enjoyed it! 😁
Sorry I don't know how to tag people, does anyone know?
It was wonderful meeting Ness, Mr Ness, Stevece, Sushi, Stainers, Evil Pixie, Velociraptor, and El Bee at the start 🤗 big love 🥰 great Fetch meetings

Congratulations on your PBs Ness and Cheekys Dad! 👏

Brilliant results for Clare1976 and Stainers in the metric! 👏

I really struggled, set off too quickly, I was over confident, full of hubris because I'd done the P&D plan 🙄. Clocked just sub-8:00/mile until the 20km point then it all fell apart, couldn't sustain it 😫

Decided on a last-minute carb strategy as it's something I've neglected before, don't have much of an appetite for them. I had four instant porridge pots for breakfast and two bananas and, of all things, a can of grapefruit. Not my usual breakfast of two toast and two eggs. Then I thought it would be a great idea to neck a large bottle of lucozade just before the start.

Felt really bloated and sick. Had to stop to throw up 🤮.

Then I did a Paula Radcliffe in a field 💩😆

Felt better after that.

Had to stop and walk a few times.

The support in the villages was amazing 🤩

Big shout out to Autumnleaves who was one of the running angles, it was great to meet you and you really helped me get up the hill and gave me a much needed boost 🤗

Finished strong after that and got a time of 3:50:35

Not what I was aiming for, but in a funny way, I enjoyed it more because of the difficulties. Overcoming adversity and all that.

Chatted to a couple of first time at Chester marathoners on the train back to Manchester, they loved it. One of them reckons it is similar to Boston (in Massachusetts, not Lincolnshire) in that is starts easy and a bit downhill, then gets bumpy in the second half.

I will blog about it and post my results later, got to nip out for a meeting with the other RDs at Alexandra parkrun. Just wanted to update you and say thank you for being part of such a wonderful day ❤️ 😁🤗

Crikey Benny Tempo. That’s a brilliant time for such an “eventful” race. You certainly got value for your money 😁 With a (shall we say) more conventional fuelling strategy you should be able to get a storming time.

PS just hit the ‘tag user’ button and start typing their name. A list of suggestions should pop up and you pick the one you want

Super event but I was broken at the end. Early stupidity, which I paid for in the last few miles.

Sorry I didn't hang about at the end, I felt I needed to keep moving, not sure why, certainly didn't feel capable of much coherent thought.

I was revived by the healing power of Sushi flapjack, that the crisps in my bag and a wee Old Mout and I was feeling a bit more human.

Lovely to meet some new Fecthies, even if by 'meet' I mean a quick word as they ran past to a storming pb. Sorry not to catch you all though. Next time :-)

Very well done on the pb, you were running really strong during our brief team effort, I knew you’d do it!! 👍 Was great to have someone to chat to, you really did keep me going at one of those marathon low points so thank you! I cramped up at 20 miles but kept going steady and finished feeling good in 4:06 so was dead chuffed!

Lovely to meet and run with a fellow fetchie 😀
