Any tips for chain hotels that will allow you to take bikes into the room? Velociraptor maybe?

Seconded on premier inn. They even froze my bidons overnight in the hot weather last year.

Princess Pink has been to a Premier Inn, but otherwise when travelling with bikes in the UK we've either gone on day trips or rented cottages with suitable access and flooring.

Question for you all

I have 2 bikes - my road bike and an old bike.

My old bike is 20 yrs old has 5 gears and original everything because it hasn't done loads of miles despite it's age.

I do however have a flat and sticky gears so it needs so TLC

Given the age and cost of parts (I'm thinking new tyres given age and possibly chain and brakes!) would it actually be better to get a new cheap everyday bike and let someone have my old bike as a project?

It depends on how decent or not the underlying bike is. 5sp chains, cassettes and brake pads can be bought for around £10 each, and whilst there is a huge range of values for tyres, I'm guessing something cheap and robust would be for sufficient from your description.

If the bike has more issues, then it may be worth replacing, but from your description it seems it should be cheaply serviceable.

Unless you want an excuse for a new bike! 😜
