YEs. Good point. That's partly why it's in Brussels as the manufacturer wouldn't ship to the UK. Bloody Brexit. Thank you

Sliced Bread podcast's latest episode covers bike helmets. Interesting interview around whether helmets help save lives, which is a different question to whether they protect you from head injuries in a crash.

Anyone able to give sizing advice for FiveTen MTB shoes please.

In running shoes I'm an 11 in Hoka, New Balance and ASICS, and a 10.5 in Nike and Saucony. I used to be a 10.5 in Inov8 but think they've changed recently as last couple of pairs I've needed an 11.

If buying online, what size do you think I should go for in FiveTen mountain bike shoes ?

Welcome to Fetch, :-)

I listened to the Sliced Bread podcast Nellers linked to above. Unfortunately, I fell asleep briefly several times during it.

One takeaway was that, contrary to prior info, helmets don't significantly degrade over time; however, helmet improvement has been such that it might be a good idea to look at replacing an old one anyway.

(Fwiw, I nearly always wear a helmet, but am not in favour of making them compulsory.)

One of the “boffins” was really making the point that restricting access to cycling by applying safety rules such as helmets would lead to more deaths because bikes kill very few people and if people can’t cycle they’ll drive n cars which kill a lot of people.

He also made an interesting point that cyclists wearing helmets may be more prone to risky behaviours as they feel safe(r). Not convinced by that but he’s the expert.

I thinks it's not so much that cyclists might take greater risks when wearing a helmet, than it is cyclists might take fewer risks when not wearing a helmet.

When I rode a motorbike without a helmet, I was much more cautious.
