Ok..I've just sort of broken my running routine by doing another 5k a couple of hours later! I wanted to take some photos of some areas of the trail that need attention by the local authority. Felt surprisingly ok!

Well done HS on Sunday, it was nice of those walkers to advise you about the bridge.

I am going to attempt a run tonight, feeling so much better. I would like to try and make up the miles I have lost, don't think that is a good idea. I usually do try and do that.

I'm on 315 miles for the year. My original target was 1000, I don't think I'll be able to make that up, not that I have the inclination anyway. My running comeback is in fits and starts and not a lot of it at all.

Lesley, as you have been unwell, it would be unwise to do extra miles at the moment. However, you could do extra runs later, possibly on Christmas Day and New Year's Eve!!

Steve, two runs in a day, things are looking up!

Thanks Lesley, yes, we were lucky that we hadn't actually started running.
Glad that you are feeling better, and good luck with your run tonight. I hope it doesn't rain!

FF, it sounds like you have lost your mojo. It happens to us all, at times, so I'm sure that yours will return.

Another rest day for me today, but yesterdays aches in the glutes have gone, so I will go for an easy pace run tomorrow.

I missed about 40 miles in September through sickness but I drew a line under it. I did manage to follow my plan for the week though and have a green tick for the first time since August. Happy with that although still finding the running harder than it should be.
FF I only started running at 46 and it's the only thing I have ever stuck at so scared if I stopped for a moment I may never start again. Hope you get your mojo back, if you want it of course no pressure

LL, sometimes we have to have time off running through injury or illness. Quite likely you would feel somewhat like a chained lion. For nearly 2 years from 2017 to 2019 I was pretty much sidelined through injury. When I couldn't run properly I had to just accept things, and encourage my wife in her running! Don't worry about it; if you have to have time away from running, just keep in touch with your friends here on Fetch, and you won't lose the desire to run.

One of the things us recreational ( hope that term doesn't offend anyone) fail to do is to factor in a proper break from running. Many elites take an extended break of a couple of weeks which allows a recharge of body...and soul. And not an enforced break through injury either.
I have never lost my mojo thankfully but I've grumbled grumbled grumbled while slogging things out when I would have been wiser to take time off-- as was suggested here.
Luckily I'm on the up and think that's because the 1,000 is near and I plan to take a week off! My wife continues to be ahead of me in distance and pace...and in Scrabble too. I must try harder!
Another 5k this morning and had to use headtorch on the trails for the first time this autumn which was fun.

((((FF)))) just do what you can when you can and want too I’m sure in time it will come back.

LL I started running 15yrs ago I’ve had a lot of lay offs with illness, operations, broken foot etc. But I’ve stayed on fetch chatting about running keeps it in my mind and I’ve planned my next adventure and I’ve managed to come back to it. When I’ve felt like I don’t want to run I put my kit and trainers on and walk. If I feel like a few steps at a running pace then I do but it’s always with no pressure.

Just take the rest & recovery you need so when you’re back out you’re strong enough for it so it’s not a chore or confidence killer. (((( ))))
