Managed to strain my soleus muscle last week, thought I was recovered but during a quick 5 miler yesterday it tightened up again. Hope it’s not scuppered my plans too much for the marathon but looks like no running for a bit.🙁 |

No running but lots of stretching and rehab hope it’s soon sorted.

There's a lot going on here, so I can't comment individually, but well done everyone and good luck with your races, recovery from colds and injuries etc. This mornings run with the Monday Group was a change from the usual forest run. We drove to Ashlett Creek and ran along muddy footpaths onto the sand and stones along the beach. It's really tough running on such an uneven surface. Total mileage was 6.77, but felt like much more |

Hi everybody! My last post was exactly 5 weeks ago, when I said that I was pulling out of Fetch. I lurked for a few days and need to thank at least ten of you for kind and supportive words as I give myself to MrsM, as her full-time carer. Thank You! Life is very challenging for both of us, in different ways. However, life goes on, and I still get out for a run when possible. Sunday's run (25thAug .) took me through the thousand miles, so far, in 2024. Now I've shifted focus to 'shorter and faster' runs as my longer runs are sometimes very slow. (10 min/mile pace is quite rare now.) (Enjoyed the two world records, last night. One of the best runs I've ever seen.) Take care! |

I read about you and COVID gg but can't see your reference to having it. Oh heck, what a time to get it with your event so close. Obviously look after yourself, you might well be ok in a few days time but don't underestimate how it can impact on you. You know that of course . Well done on hitting the 1000 MrM2 and good to know you're still putting some miles in. That's quite a terrain hs but as usual you handled those varied miles well. Another 4 .3 miles along trails with my wife who (kindly!) is ok doing some walk/runs with me. Her cast on her fracture isn't too heavy to compromise her gait. Clocked just over a hundred miles for the month and I'm eager to get as many miles in towards the 1000 before proper autumn and winter.(as you know, I don't enjoy winter outings!). |

MrM2, it's good to hear from you again, and I'm pleased that you are still running, and have passed the 1,000 miles, well done. I'm very sorry that your feeling tired and unwell GG, turned out to be the dreadful Covid. Take it easy, and think very carefully about whatever or not to partake in your epic race. In my humble opinion, I think that you should be 100% fit to undertake such an awesome challenge. Thanks Steve, it was really refreshing running along the beach with a nice breeze and the smell of ozone. We don't like having to drive to other venues because of pollution etc but do try to keep it to a minimum. Well done for this mornings 4.3 miles on trails with your wife, and passing the 100 miles for the month. You are well on target for the 1,000 miles. I didn't Farmers Walk this morning as I had to drive somewhere else first, so I visited the supermarket on the way back. I'll make up for it tomorrow with our speed session. |

Thanks all I am gutted more so that 2 friends now have it too. I was feeling unwell first so don’t know if it was me that’s spread it (although my dad had a cold he tested negative twice so it was only a cold) and my first test was negative on the Saturday but if so no idea where I got it from as I haven’t been in crowded places when away with family we ate outside both days I was home all week and saw no-one, we had a couple of drinks in the local on Thursday but sat near no one and I went shopping on Friday before friends came round. Or someone who came Friday had it and me being so run down it hit me first. Not apportioning blame at all just gutted it happened at our house. Saturday I currently won’t be running I’m not going to hold my 3 friends up if I’m struggling and if I’m struggling I won’t take the risk of having this bite harder. It’s not on my chest it feels like a head cold but with fatigue so we’ll see I know a friend said they had tiredness for a few days then woke up right as rain so we’ll see. Long term health will come first. And my £95 entry supports lots of local charities so it’s a charity donation! If I’m negative I may go over and support for a few hours - although it’s a long way to go to do that so we’ll see. |
