GG, on my 78th birthday last year, I ran 6.63 miles with the Wednesday Group, including 5 x 1k with 2.5 minutes recoveries. I don't know what I'll do on my 79th in December.
I think that you are correct in thinking that we knew it was the last effort, so put maximum effort into it.
I sometimes wonder, if when feeling a bit under par it's Covid, but haven't tested for it.
You are right Steve, it was tough but we are very competitive with each other, which helps with the motivation.
I haven't heard of that virus. I wonder if I will get an invite?
Well done for this mornings 4.2 miles mainly on trails.
I was feeling the after-effects from yesterday's interval session, so did a very steady recovery run on roads of just 2.33 miles.

We always run on our birthday but that I have a party to host a few hours after I get home I would rather we didnt do it... but with a little help from some friends we'll make it happen.
I am not going to Berkeley, I knew in my head that it wasnt the best idea, I just have the biggest FOMO but once I made the decision I feel so much better for it. The head cold symptoms have eased but I am so exhausted. I woke this morning thinking yeah I'm awake before the alarm (at 9.15) to find it was 9.46 and I'd slept through the alarm.
I re-tested and am negative today (yeah) but I am not pushing anything, I may try to get to the 100m for the month if I do a couple of short run/walks over the weekend but again if I can't I can't - health first & long time goals.
We are going to go to the boat I know I will relax there and there's no distractions and I intend to get the paintbrushes out.

I think people don't have to test so they dont and then it spreads, I think what i was saying is that it only felt like a head cold so again would you think it could be covid? I am just paranoid so I do test and make people I'm close too test if I'm in contact.
Anyway enough of me and darn covid, great running guys!

I'm pleased you've tested negative GG and you have made the right decision to miss Berkley and head to the boat. Rest up and chill out over the weekend.

Steady recovery run essential hs. You put a lot of effort into your speed/ hill work so a short gentle run following such stuff is well deserved. So glad you've made your decision gg and also that you've tested negative. That was a quick turn around, a lot of people take ten days. I suppose it depends on what variant is caught. Doing the boat and relaxing will make your recovery more plain sailing (!). Lots of blood samples taken today at my surgery. Got a few things that need to be looked at. Like an old car this old codger needs regular servicing at the moment 😂😂

Sounds like you have made the right decision GG. There is always next year. Rest up and take care, although sounds like you have party planning to do. Always great to run on your birthday.
Hope all the tests are fine Steve. You are doing great with your miles.
Great job as always HS.
As I have said many times before I really hope to still be running (or very active if I can't run) when I am in my 70's.
I couldn't stand that heat in Dubai, enjoy Dublin Dubairunner.
We had a great run on Tuesday on the local hill. The views were fantastic and everyone had a great time.
Out early this morning for an easyish run round town. Out on the country roads and making most of what light there is left. Was a great sunrise.

Glad your hill run was nice and you're still able to do some early morning runs when it's light enough Lesley. Did the little un enjoy school? Ugh to the nuisance bloke. Maybe he'll leave! A glorious sunny 9c early morning and unusually for me did 2.57 miles... without rounding up! It's still bothering me!! Have time constraints today and needed to be back to get on with the day's stuff!

That's good news that you have recovered from Covid GG. I think that you have made the right decision, not to run in the Berkeley. Relaxing on the boat sounds idealic.
Thanks Steve, as we age, we definitely have to revise our expectations. I still work hard during the training sessions, but have reduced my mileage, and do more at recovery pace.
I hope that the tests at the surgery prove to be productive.
Well done for this mornings 2.57 miles, due to time restrictions.
Thanks Lesley. I'm sure that you will still be running in your 70's. Good to hear that your hill run on Tuesday was enjoyable.
I happened, by chance, to see that thread you mentioned, a day or two ago. I was tempted to comment, but didn't. I'll have another look if I have time.
The usual Farmers Walk this morning in lovely sunshine, but pleasantly cool.
We are doing the Moors Valley parkrun tomorrow for the first time. I've had a look at last week's results, and will have to run really hard to be first AG 75-80.

My comments on it were a little off topic HS, but I thought it might be a good place to ask questions.
He seems to be enjoying school Steve, although he doesn't say much about it. He goes in ok so that's all I can ask for. He didn't want his uniform on this morning, he will get used to it.
