Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Grid My four-and-a-half-year-old 10K PB has finally gone at the ninth attempt, but I wasn't aiming for anything like that sort of performance so it was quite a surprise. I really enjoyed the course and it was very well marshalled and supported.

A good number of us had major problems getting to the race on time - public transport simply wasn't an option from Leeds and I had to queue for three miles to park. I aimed to arrive at about 08:00 but finally parked (over 1K from the start line) with less than ten minutes to the planned start time of 09:00. Some marshalls told us that the race would start on time, but in the end I think we started at 09:20.

The start was exceptionally congested (much more so than the Leeds 10K) with no splitting of runners into target times, so I spent most of the first 3K running sideways. It's a very flat course with the odd incline, but unless starting right near the front you could experience frustration if aiming for a PB.

Meglet Happy with PB, not under 64 mins which i would have liked but could not have gone faster.
Traffic in and out was a BIG issue, as was lack of banding for runners/walkers but a lovely route and would do again.

TooLilac watch time. After 3 weeks of no running, that's a better time than I deserve. Excellent fetch spotting at the finish - lovely to meet Kazoal (sp ?), Meglet and the Alchemist. Saw PamB, HLS and Suzeedee too. Good course, great weather, lots of local support. Two things detracted from the feel-good factor: race started 20 minutes later - rather poor. Also, no pens of banding of runners, so walkers and armchair athletes were all mixed in which meant the 1st 3 miles was like hopscotch. I'm not fast, but I dp want to run all the way round. I don't want to be stuck behind people walking and holding hands across with whole road. If the organisers get the grouping at the start right, I *might* do it next year.
