Well, I ran yesterday (which isn't actually even on this list), walked into town and then walked the dog this morning - I was planning to rest from running today. The rest seem to suggest someone is taking this to a different level. (For all that, I'm not actually losing too badly, at least until tonight's dump, so a well planned activity or two ... )

I'm ok with @fetch's "push the tactics to the limit", although when I'm losing because of that, maybe I'm less ok than I think I should be ;) Ultimately I'm in the top ten on the ranking and the second match on the 1v1 list, so I can't really complain. It's my mileage that keeps me here, not my tactics.

I'd support a feature request that limits the number of activities per type, but that's because I rarely do more than two runs in a day (or two cycles) and because I've a fancy watch, so I can program in warm-ups, intervals and cool downs. I can totally see why someone might warm up to a Park Run, race it, then run a little with friends, then run home, all as separate activities.

I'm a definite Meh. But that maybe says more about me. ;-)

I don't see this as cheating, or indeed gamesmanship. If someone can be bothered to do all this just to gain extra squares/points, who am I to argue?
I can't ever see me doing it, because

a) I couldn't be bothered;
b) the games are secondary to me actually recording activities for their own sake*;
c) it would make my training log look far messier than I could deal with.
[This could be why I've never been any further than the last four in the multi.]

*The games do change my behaviour because I'll run to collect squares or bugs or whatever, but only if I can make them fit into what I'm planning anyway.

I’ve been in a multimatch final and had to resort to these kind of tactics to have any chance of winning. The first photo shows the semi final the week before!

It was more important for me to win the semi final game than the actual multimatch and anyway SteveNordRunner had me beat by Thursday!

You have to remember it’s ‘just a game’

I very rarely resort to playing like this at the moment. Primarily I check my fetchpoint bug and run according to where it is with one eye on my WSW squares!

Thank you Fizz :-) for noticing my big mileage. I’ve been 13km runs and walks, 5 km walks and runs….then occasional short out and backs to capture key squares. RunRuss posted my very short tactical run and walk, not my 13km run and my 24km cycle ride that had me lead one of the tables this week as a Big Hitter

I got into the wsw final some time ago doing this, I must admit it felt like cheating at the time - even though I called it tactics, and after being called out for it I stopped doing it.
I agree it is against the spirit of the game though.

Seeing what my activities look like when filtered for > 3km

Saturday (parkrun) and Wednesday runs were out of grid too

I've managed to stop being overly focussed on Fetchpoint. Could do with relaxing a bit on WSW. I think I'll adopt a no-silliness mindset from now* on (* now means after the WSW final).

If you can keep to 1km+ when all about you

Are doing 30 second runs to win,
If you can trust your stats when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can bag squares and not be tired of bagging

Or being shorted, don't short-run yourself

If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the match and all the points with it,
And - which is more - you’ll get a badge, my son!

Here's my corresponding week for jelly's WSW final, FWIW.
