It's an interesting tactic, but can become a bit compulsive. I've done the: run for a while, walk for a while, run for a while thing for a couple of 'runs'. It does mess up the log and takes time out messing with the watch. It didn't seem worth it to me. I can understand that for some it might be worth it. Everyone treats the game with different seriousness. To potentially limit undue use of short activities, there could be a limit per activity, such as only 4 runs that are less than 0.5mi are allowed per day. No cap on ones above that. Maybe 3 swims less than 20 metres are allowed, etc. Though coming up with the quantities and distances could open up a discussion and need fine-tuning from time-to-time. |

I've revamped the WSW Multiplayer final grid spreadsheet. (It had become too large and wasn't add more data.) This gives a visual guide to the differences in the grid between the two players: docs.google.com It updates every minute. |

Thank you JCB, those spreadsheets are both very neat and useful views in to the data. I quite like the "Squarage Points" values, which I think are only in the "In-play" doc. Could they be squeezed in to the "final" document too? Before I uploaded yesterday Ray was 37 squares ahead. I got in a particularly good day of exercise on Thursday with deliberately planned routes. Woke up early, took advantage and had a longer ride than normal, but that only tickles squares with +1 point. But any of those squares you can later run through becomes net +3 which is well worth having. But this spreadsheet view shows how brittle my lead is. Ray has a strong grip on a lot of squares, I have a weak grip on a higher number of squares. There's no way I'd have had a 4.8km warm up run before the gym without WSW in my life. And the lunchtime run would probably have been more like 10-12km. And today it is raining. But because of WSW I've already walked 1.1km and run 2km run, and it was really rather pleasant. WSW FTW. Thanks again for your spreadsheets JCB. |

I’m glad you are finding the spreadsheets useful RunRuss. It looks like it’s a great competition and WSW can certainly bring more out of us than we would normally do. I’ll look into adding the ‘squarage points’ into the v0.5 final one, when I’m next on the correct computer. (Maybe I should rename it ‘v0.5 grid’)

Thanks for the tip FatRayToSlim. My legs could very much do with a break to absorb all the extra WSW mileage. Really nice to see in person meet ups. I've only met Llamadance when I saw him in a Fetch vest at last year's Winchester 10k (and again in passing at the Hampshire Hoppit marathon this year) |

Wallman
Hi WSWers Over the last few months you guys at the sharp end may have noticed an increase in activity before I ‘went silent’ in June… Over the last five weeks I’ve ran an average of 33 miles per day to complete my LEJOG (Lands End to John O’ Groats). That was over 1,000 miles of running!!! During my run I was privileged to meet many fantastic people and see many great sights. I’ve had so many messages of support it’s been incredible and very emotional. I picked Climbers Against Cancer as my designated charity. It would be totally awesome if I could round this sum up to £3,500 before I close the page. If you would like to make a donation, please follow this link- bit.ly The 1,040 miles were hard on the legs and body but nothing compared to the people living and battling cancer daily. Every penny that’s donated will go to the people that need it the most. I’ll be posting a full article on my blog here- bit.ly once the tiredness subdues and a short video of my journey will be posted here- bit.ly All the best Dave Douglas #1Wallman |

Awesome journey Wallman! But that surely isn't JO'G with blue skies and no obviously debris flying past in a gale.
