Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch
or for an ad-free Fetcheveryone experience!

Re tape hair and plasters. I leave it on overnight and then remove them in the shower. Lot less painful when the plaster is wet. My top tip.

Hello - checking in here for the first time!

I have given sporadically over the last ten or so years, but none since moving house three years ago. There seems to have been a bit of a campaign for AB+ donors this summer with requests/reminders coming fast and furious by email and text, so I thought I better do something about it. Appointment after work today. :-)

AB+ is the universal donor group for plasma (I used to donate plasma rather than full blood) which is one of the reasons that they like us!

Number 58 done today. Nice easy and quick one.
Not at Unit-giving PB for me - but 4:45 wasn't too shabby :D

The local blood donation staff are now accustomed to our "races". Today they got eL Bee! through first so that I knew what time to aim for. I was nowhere near, though.

First haemoglobin recheck in a long time, but the Haemacue gave me a quote of 14.1.

Glad that's done :)

Apologies for asking what has probably been discussed before on this thread.

What is the experience of donors on here, of the impact (if any) on your running performance due to iron deficiency post donation?

For me, SS, a subjective impression of slightly reduced exercise tolerance for around a week after a donation. Nothing that would stop me doing steady training runs, and if I trained to heart rate I'd expect to reach the same heart rate at a slower pace than usual, but I wouldn't donate in the run-up to a target race.
