Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

I've got a couple of varicose veins in left leg that are a bit unsightly, but have been aching recently after running and fell-walking (which they never used to do). Wondered whether compression socks or something might help? Any thoughts appreciated 🙂

Compression socks are worth trying. Some people find them helpful :)

Sigh
Hi stilldreaming. I have varicose veins in my left calf, and for long runs or hard efforts (or both) I wear these:

amazon.co.uk

They are the same level of compression as grade 2 medical stockings, they don't roll down, I have about 10-12 pairs.

Blog about my experiences here from 2017:

Thanks Sigh - that's good to know. Will try some compression socks and see if they help.

@DT, this sizing chart is one of the images on the Amazon product page. I'm a UK size 9 in normal shoes, and a UK size 10 in trainers (Brooks or ASICS). Just to be awkward I'm 9.5 in Merrells!

Anyway, they all come in the L/XL category. The heel-to-toe part of the sock is fine.

My inside leg is 29.5", not measured my calf but the calf part of the sock is very slightly too long, so when I roll it up my leg I don't stretch it, and it's fine - sits nicely below the knee 'bend'.

Finally, I have hairy legs which normally means that knee-length socks come down as the hairs drag the sock down as I move, but not these, they stay up.

Thanks Sigh. It’d help if I’d have gone to the trouble of reading all the info on-line. I’d be a L/XL too

Got something to say?
