afraid I think NC's right, tis a never, I think it's to do with the possibility of tranferring CJD, but why you'd be more likely to have it if they've done proper screening I don't know. was meant to give blood on the 6th, carried over from sept due to various things, and AGAIN I had a ruddy cold; I think my body's just trying to tell me it wants to keep all its blood! I postponed it to tomorrow but still have a sore throat, will have to see how it is.

There was something in Newsnight last night about how close they are to testing accuratley for vCJD. I think one of the issues was on weather a blood donor would want to be told they had or were carrying vCJD

Ooh, funny this thread should be back on front page today - I'm off to donate this evening. The leaflet I was sent said I'd get a keyring with my blood type written on it...
Does anyone use the online registration donation thing? I haven't looked into it, just saw something about it in a leaflet, but it sounds like it might save a few trees perhaps?

I went last night and got my keyring - apparently it's a thing for second time donors (I've done more than 2, but the others were a while ago pre-tattoos and piercings!) I guess they want to encourage giving blood to become habit, so they offer incentives to keep you going back at the beginning? I wonder how much a keyring gift sways people?
Day off from running planned for today anyway, though I am doing the sit ups and press ups challenges from the other thread...

At last! Last november went off to give blood for first time in nearly 30 years(!) as part of FECK 5 (whatever happened to that?!) but my sample wouldn't sink. Yah boo. Must be too much running lol. Went back 10 weeks later, not realising I had to wait another 6. Why? Anyway, back again today. And yes, result!
Chocolate biscuit and tuna and cucumber sandwich. Not a bad deal.
