Odd: Dachs runs for Reading and used to train on the Thames so I'd bump into him from time to time on a Sunday run. I just looked at his po10 profile and it ends abruptly Woodley parkrun Dec 30th 2023 and nothing since in 2024. I saw him at a relay a couple of years ago and he was making noises about running for fun if he couldn't get back to his top level. I thought he'd then put some nice times in after though. Some of us are probably "fairly" driven in the week in week mileages we do, but I think Dachs was properly driven - not hitting his goals was huge for him. Whereas some of us are happy to find excuses / appreciate the beauty of just training and racing regularly |

Used to spend a lot of time on RW about a decade or so ago mainly on the Sheffield social thread (think that was what it was called). At one point we even had tops done so we could spot each other at events. Often meeting At Endcliffe Park Parkrun and for runs in the Peak District.

Mrs Jigs (Luverlylegs)
Welcome all I posted on RW a bit when I first started running in 2005 but then discovered Fetch and never went back. |

Dachs has had a few injuries that have taken him some time to get over - if I remember rightly he was coming back from one injury, slipped and damaged his ribs, which were taking some time to heal.

The Sheffield Social thread was a wonderful thing in it's prime. I keep going back to it to see if there is life but I think I'm about 10 years too late. I started posting on RW about 20 years ago in the run up to that year's Dublin Marathon. Posted regularly for years afterwards but one day it seemed like everyone stopped at the same time. |

I've been posting on the RW 'Mature Runners' thread for tĥe last few years and also on here. But there were only 3 or 4 of us posting regularly on RW more recently. One of them I'm already a buddy with on here - hopefully the others will find their way here too and we can buddy up. Don't know yet if we'll create a similar thread on here - to be discussed! Very short notice of the demise .. some of the irregular posters on the RW thread will get a nasty surprise when they try and pop in to RW again. When RW did their (cough) 'upgrade' a few years ago and people left in droves because of the bugs and complete lack of support, those of us left suspected they would eventually close the forums. I'm shocked they've kept them going this long tbh. If anyone from the Mature Runners RW thread sees this, drop me a line .. |
