Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I'm in. I've been on the RW sub3 thread since 2006 and there was a previous thread.
I'm unattached harriers so like a place to talk a bit of running. I can set up a new thread later.
I'm m57 and still hanging on to sub3.

I was never on any RW threads but I feel pretty confident any refugees from RW will find a welcoming home here :-)

He was on a quest to become an Olympian, which is how he started his posting over there. Pretty sure he was banned at least once but came back again. He took a lot of stick but seemed to take it all in his stride. Good times. Samir Haddad indeed: thepowerof10.info I met him few times: I used to run in Hammersmith and he was at Ealing. Nice guy, a talented runner but no work ethic.

Was just about to respond to this, before noticing it's you Mr Jones :)

I actually gave Samir a lift after that infamous Reading half where he'd left international class runners for half a mile!

I must admit, my navigation was insane as his pacing, as 30mins in we ended up back at the Mad stad! Not sure what happened there, as the station was the intended location!!

I was grateful to him blagging an "elite" place for sub 1hr 20 though, as I contacted them the year after and got one myself, albeit for a bit more reasonable sub 1hr 16

Welcome TR. There is already a sub-3 thread

fetcheveryone.com/forum/sub-3hr-marathon-17719/

If you use the search button (top right) you can find this and a lot of similar threads :-)

StevieG, do you happen to know what happened to Dachs (I hope I got the name right)? His couple of cartoons of Scotch Eggington were hilarious.

Another who came over here many, many years ago when they messed up the upgrade. Was a great place in its pomp, if a little toxic.

Also thought it closed down many moons ago but welcome to any people who move over. Can also recommend the sub-3.15 thread for those not close enough to sub 3!

I was only ever there for the Comrades thread and it was invaluable for that, particularly at first not knowing anyone else who was getting ready for this race.

Bit of a surprise to see the notice today saying RW was closing down the forum. Although I guess not a surprise as the traffic was getting less and less. I posted mainly on the 'My Last Run' thread having returned a few weeks back. But it was becoming something of a 'one man band' thread as a lot of regulars had disappeared.

Looking forward to some good discussions.

About This Thread

Runner's World posted an announcement today to tell their users that they are closing their forum on Friday :-O

So... I just wanted to make a little landing pad and decorate it with welcome flags for any new arrivals.
