Well done all who raced at the weekend. Hopefully I will be troubling the sidebar in around 5 weeks time. I have decided to do the Sunday race so my race date is now 24/11.

I feel a bit of a fraud on the side bar as I was 29secs over 3.15.

It’s definitely for aspirants as much as achievers.

and some of us can barely run round the block any more but can still act as a dictator on this thread 😀.

@Akie you shared your intentions and your journey to marathon day here on the thread and so with a tiny little bit of threadmin discretion you’re on the sidebar! Any plans to go faster next year?

Yeah I still feel like an aspirant rather than an achiever.

I havent really. Agreed with my wife that I wouldnt do a marathon next year with a lot on (planning to move to France in 2025) so it might have to wait for 2026.

@Windsor Wool - I'm guessing you're still struggling with your arthritis issues, but you're laying down some better distances and times than I am. Over 8 miles is tough for me (managed one 15 miler), and pace well 5k sub 7.30 min/mile is the best I can do these days and that's like hard speedwork!

Not even trying to be close to a sub 3:15 attempt but I know some of you are familiar with this beast.

Now Autumn is out of the way, time for a nonsense discussion.

This poll

If you were running that route, as part of an "easy" run. Assuming the same total time taken, and the same pace run on the flat miles in each run, which would you expect to see higher heart rate average on? Without a "descent" treadmill I can't test it out!!
