Well, everyone else seems to have one.

Bit about me - I've run 2 marathons (both in 2006) in 3:44 and 3:28. I'm now looking to get under 3:15 at FLM in 2007.

I've followed Hal Higdon schedules for both marathons. However, training didn't go to plan in either as I got flu for one and was out injured for a month for the other. As a result I went into both races feeling a bit underprepared.

A few things I need to sort out to get under 3:15 I think:

1) I ran out of legs in both marathons around the 20/22 mile mark;
2) I've had training disrupted;
3) I've had insufficient long runs - as a result of 2), but also due to the training programmes.
4) I'm looking at another HH schedule for FLM, but haven't decided yet.

So, anyone else in the same boat?

I'm glad someone finally started one of these - I've been feeling all left out!

I ran 3:59 in 2004, 3:38 in 2005 and 3:27 in 2006. Hoping for a similar improvement at FLM 2007...

Trainingwise I've used RW 4, 3:45 and 3:30 plans in the past. I've looked at HH for this time around, most likely the Advanced II since my weakness is speed rather than endurance so I need the two speed sessions a week. However, I'm likely to adapt it quite a bit since I can't do hills (there aren't any!), and I don't want to only do 800m intervals, I like variety more in the style of the RW speed sessions. I also like my long runs, so 3x20 isn't going to keep me happy...

Hurrah, it's not just me then.

I was looking at the Advanced II plan too Katie. I like the HH plans, but like you, need/want more long runs. If I do this schedule I'll be cutting and pasting sessions a fair bit too. I've got plenty of hills to choose from though, so I'll have a bit of variety for speed sessions.

With your 10k pb controversial, you could be closer to sub 3 than 3:15. That's an impressive time.

I'm looking to do 3.15 after doing 3.21 and 3.23. First marathon was by following the RW sub 3.15 then I did a similar plan but had to drop some of the training for races. Aim to get back on track 1 January ready for Paris (fancy doing some pacing with the yellow balloon men Controversial?).

I think my main mistake 2nd time around was lack of long runs which meant burn out in last few miles.

ahhh now i know what you are all talking about!
I have got also some training plans from M G on my computer, really don't know where they are from. What I like from them is that they push up to 80 m per week ... but you can do them with just 60 m. If you want I can send them, i am not sure i can post them.

I'm nowhere near 80mpw but 60mpw might be doable - can you send them via FM or do you need an email address?

The HH looks easier than the RW plan. The intervals (5x1M & 8x800m) are quite tough, especially as I tried to do them at 6mm pace. I did however think that the general advice was to do at least five 20 mile runs, does anyone agree with this advice?
