Sounds very sensible to me Katie and could well explain why i crashed and burned at around 2hrs50/3hrs previously.
I need more time on my feet. See, this thread is already helping.

the time on your feet thing is so true! the most usefull time in a 3 hours run are the last 30 mins ... it is where you really starts teaching your body how to react at its limits.

Not quite what I was thinking Mim. I could do some Dyson intervals I suppose.

problem with dyson's is that they are pretty efficient, hence cutting down the time on your feet ... you probaly need the worst hoover you can get!
I think gobi has just invented the hoover racing!

Count me in for a sub 3:15 marathon in 2007. Don't know where it will be yet. I'm still hoping I'm successful at odds of about 10:1 to get a club place for FLM. If not, I doubt I'll be doing a spring marathon and will probably aim for Abingdon again.
I did a 1:26:46 half marathon today
Shame it was rowing and not running.

Count me in here too please My previous marathons have been 4:25 (don't ask!) and 3:16. And ran with Velociraptor at Abingdon for 3:54. Am aiming for around the 3 hours mark at FLM this time.

I'm looking to do my 1st marathon next year - ideally Snowdonia (my local one - I love the hills!), but looks like we're going away for 2 weeks from the end of Oct'07, so it looks like the Anglesey marathon in September. According to my training log I have a FE prediction of sub 3hr, but with it being my 1st marathon and given Anglesey isn't flat I think a 3h15m target is probably more sensible. Have got a Hal Higon book and will probably use on of his programmes - though not always easy to plan my running given family and work commitments - and the desire to stay married!!

Have heard the name of Hal come up a few times and I am thinking of using a modified Advanced II schedule (varying the speed work and deleting the Wed easy run, so 5 a week).
My question is: Is the back-to-back weekend double essential/intrinsic to Hal's plans? I think the that would be too tough for me and possibly an injury maker. I'm fine doing all the runs, I just feel splitting those two up might be better for me. Also, from a keeping-the-wife-happy point of view!
