WW, thanks - apologies for the faux pax earlier ;) I kind of know where you're coming from about the predictors. It's sometimes possible to look at the predictors before a race, and afterwards feel that I may have and limited myself to that. I often feel I would love to race without a watch just to see what happened but I've never, ever done it - not even for a parkrun (I know parkruns aren't races, but you get my point).

I do think strava has a lot to answer for in this area of pacing. I have a group of friends who run regularly together. They range from a couple of people who haven't broken 4hrs to ladies who are comfortable GFA and knocking on the door of 3hrs. They go out at 9s and I'm thinking to myself "those slower runners are doing their long runs at faster than race pace" whereas probably for the faster runners it's about in the right ball park. All the "trending faster" stuff doesn't necessarily help I don't think.

I know this is a serious training thread but if you are on strava or even in to YouTube, would you please look up Asif Amirat and check out the guy who claims to be running 240 mpw in his living room in order to raise cash for the NHS.

He doesnโ€™t have the physique of the average 240 mpw runner but Iโ€™m sure itโ€™s all legit ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

I got paywalled but there's too much innovative thinking there for that to be journalistic tripe. 2 days in Oct '21 it is then. Do we all get to run twice?!

That's an interestingly timed article by the DT. 12 weeks and a couple of days out, is this VMLM leaking their intentions, or is it just a journalist who was hoping to run it realising they've got 12 weeks to go and want to force VMLM to declare their hand?

Planning for something fancy in Oct 2021 is pretty much as silly as planning a big race in Oct 2020.

I also got paywalled but the headline came up. Guess there must be something in it.

for those that are interested in Tanda, I see that there is a Tanda club on strava now and if you go to the page on there there's some ways to link in your training data to various tools. I did that, it produced many graphs and predictably I got bored within seconds. I expect lark will be back to explain it all though :-) . Thanks in advance!
