Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Been looking at a few videos. It seems that many people figure that the smaller hoop is easier. Sounds logical doesn't it But if you stand the hoop in front of you it should come at least waist high

I've improved. I haven't hooped since Thursday, but tonight, despite quite a few drops, I managed 31 and 26 spins. It felt like I'd got the rhythm going, briefly :-)

That sounds like a great idea - I didn't realise hula hoops improved core strength (though now I think about it it's fairly easy to see). *goes off to look at hula hoops that aren't crisps*

Dance hoops are the recommended ones, Jambono - they seem to be what the experts use and quite heavy ones too. I think mine is a little bit light at 0.7kg. 1kg - 1.5kg are mentioned a lot for beginners as they roll slower so stay up easier.

I've swapped to a heavier 1.36kg hoop. I tried it out for the first time today and managed to do 100 spins 3x in the 5 minutes. It's hard work keeping going - a good aerobic workout! My ribs and waist felt a bit sore but that will ease as I do it more often.
I've taken my waist measurement to see if it has any effect *fingers crossed*

I clicked on this thread intending to make a comment about having just finished a bag of sea salt and crushed black peppercorn kettle chips. I could still make it, of course, but it doesn't seem quite as relevant now I've seen what this thread is about ;-)

A few hula hoops recently appeared in my gym. I haven't tried it yet.... but I usedmto be quite good at it on WiiFit.... does that count?

I believe hula hooping also makes activity trackers go into overdrive and increases your step counts:-)
