Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

In fairness, the gels were 2 years out of date when I last used them 12 months ago, so another 12 months won't have made too much difference ;-)

BK brighter days ahead
@mattglen - I doubt you will arrive before they seal off the main entrance into the park (and your red wave exit) so there are a few options from Blackheath - head along Goffers Road towards the Blackheath tea hut with the Heath and main green/yellow/blue assembly areas on your right. Cross over Shooter’s Hill Road. There is a park entrance on Charlton Way next to the Rangers House but I think that is no entry so you need to take the park perimeter road ( General Wolfe ) alongside the Rangers House and there are park entrances off that.
If you do prefer to follow the crowds to the blue/yellow assembly for atmosphere you would then just need to bear left around blue then head towards the corner of yellow on the other side of Shooters Hill and follow the big red signs down Charlton Way.
Enjoy the day.

Londoners - last time I was on the Tube they'd introduced the tap in / tap out contactless travel options. I know I don't need to worry on marathon day, but on the day before when I'll be travelling with family how do you go about tapping everyone in / out? Or do you need to make sure everyone has a different contactless card, including youngsters etc?

Spot on larkim . A contactless bank card, mobile pay (apple, google etc.), or Oyster card per person.

You can still buy and use paper tickets, such as daily travel cards if needed.

For children it's probably better getting a travelcard or something as otherwise you'll be coughing up the adult fare unnecessarily, if using contactless.

I have had no issue using the same debit card for two journeys at the same time - using my phone (Apple pay or whatever) for me and my actual card for my daughter.

Yep, physical cards and "virtual cards" on phones have technically different numbers so it would make sense if it can be used that way. To be fair, the older kids have debit cards anyway, it's only one 14yo that doesn't. So they older ones can tap themselves and we'll refund!

But you do have to use a different physical method of tapping - i.e. you can't use the same debit card twice in succession to tap in or out. And don't forget to tap out (although the daily rate is capped).

About This Thread

Maintained by Kirsty
After getting lucky in the ballot yesterday, I couldn’t find a thread, so thought I’d start one. Bit of background: I ran 7 marathons (2 London, 2002 and 2006) between 2002 and 2016, fastest 4:06, slowest 5:09. Major health issues in 2017 and 2019 and I felt that my marathon days were over, but I kept entering the ballot, safe in the knowledge I wouldn’t get in - and now I have! I am probably looking at walking the whole way, or possibly jeffing. I’m very excited and very nervous!
