Even the finishers after 8hours get a medal, it’s just that they have to move onto the pavements and the finish line gets moved off the mall into the park.

Sorry if this has come up already. I’ll be okay to access the red start coming from Blackheath station direction won’t I?

Official advice recommends Greenwich but the journey suits me to get off at Blackheath and wander across the fields

Should be fine, you just need to walk round the outside of the assembly area to get to an entrance.

I've done it in the past, I doubtless got lost but there are millions of volunteers to point you in the right direction!

I work on the basis that if it is feasible that someone actually lives at the location you're preferring to get from then getting from there to wherever you need to be on a voluntary basis should be feasible too!

I'm feeling quite jealous now reading this stuff. It's really the most fantastic day out, one not to be missed (writing that to myself to convince myself to enter for next year :-) )

Anyway, have you tried out those 3 year out of date gels yet larkim. As you know, I'm normally pretty gung-ho about these sort of things but you are scaring me!

My two previous London's were 2014 and 2016. 3:08 and 3:04 (still my PB) - both were PB's at the time.

So Sunday is likely to be my slowest London and only non PB....still think it will be a great day though :-)

I was pretty meh about it before doing my first, but was wowed by the occasion, the organisation and the day.

Tonight's the night WW - tried the SIS one and it was fine, but that's only 6 months out of date. The 3 year old ones go down tonight :-)

I'm a little superstitious about these as I've used them on both of my successful ventures so would prefer to use them - they are also a glucose / fructose mix with a decent amount of sodium content too compared to maltodextrin only in the SIS ones and very little on the electrolyte front.

I'm probably over-obsessing, but I'm definitely changing shoes this time around (Adios Boost 4 instead of my preferred Ravenna / Launch GTS) and wearing a club vest instead of the same saloman t-shirt that I wore in Chester and Manchester. So I'd rather keep nutrition the same / similar if possible. Plus I'm in a hotel which is definitely out of the ordinary for me!

it's good to think about all that stuff now larkim as it keeps the brain occupied but the reality is that none of it will even cross your mind again once you take that 1st step over the start line on Sunday!

Unless you are saying that my marathon last Sunday went awry because I wore a new pair of shoes, new socks, new shorts, and stayed in a hotel? You wouldn't.....so yes, you are over-obsessing!

After getting lucky in the ballot yesterday, I couldn’t find a thread, so thought I’d start one. Bit of background: I ran 7 marathons (2 London, 2002 and 2006) between 2002 and 2016, fastest 4:06, slowest 5:09. Major health issues in 2017 and 2019 and I felt that my marathon days were over, but I kept entering the ballot, safe in the knowledge I wouldn’t get in - and now I have! I am probably looking at walking the whole way, or possibly jeffing. I’m very excited and very nervous!
