Been to the expo to pick up my race number. Getting the number and bag was no problem, plenty of empty desks and over in a couple of minutes. The problem was the printing of my name on my shirt. It was all pre-paid, but I was in the queue for over an hour. Got a few ideas whilst there for a few winter half's for next year, Malta and Madeira look favourites (my wife wont let me train for another full marathon) Coming home was another problem, someone had thrown themselves on the tracks at Gatwick. It turned into a really long day, but we got there in the end, but really expensive (over £100 in rail costs today, and we have to do the same again at the weekend, why cant they just post the numbers!) |

I anticipated that there would be a long wait at the t-shirt printing desk at the expo and splashed out £2.79 for decals of my name to iron on to the front and back of my running vest at home. No vests were melted and no letters ended up on a tea towel.

We'll probably be at the expo late on Friday afternoon. Freeing up Saturday morning for ... I dunno. What do people normally do on Saturday mornings? ![]() |

One of the parkruns local to me in SE London is cancelled on Saturday due to Eid celebrations in the park - a reminder that it's best to check that events are actually taking place if you have a venue in mind for a pre-marathon leg loosener.

I’m planning highbury fields. Their FB is very quiet but I’ve already checked and they have a full volunteer roster and not on cancellations so should be ok!

I shall think about the logistics of parkrun once I've packed my bag.

Some questions regarding the aid stations: - located left or right side of the road ? - Lucozade in cups and water in bottles ? - how to avoid congestion at aid stations ? By the way, has anyone some suggestions for a lunch and a little sightseeing near the expo on Saturday ? |

Charlesvdw There’s very little near the expo. Depending on where you’re staying you’d be better off getting on the DLR and heading back to central London.
