Yes, correct. The EIS will start a legal process, apparently.

"I hope that we see LittleD's attendance improve dramatically so there will be no need for the school to make a referral to the EIS". FFS - if they speak to adults like that, I dread to think how they speak to children.

She's had three days off this year. I think they need maths lessons.

Three days? That's ridiculous. My daughter missed 4 for our New York trip (and most of the teachers mentioned it without recrimination last night at parents evening), and has also missed today and yesterday through illness (though she did come to parents eve, it was obvious to the teachers that she wasn't faking it!)

Hope you can get to talk to someone sympathetic at school and get the right sort of support for LittleD. What year is she? Is there an alternative school that might suit her better?

Year 9. Yes, there is, but she won't even discuss a move.

Hmm, that’s tricky. And this year would be a better time to move before GCSEs really kick in.

We had a similar letter about attendance when my daughters moved schools. They moved at Christmas, and the letter arrived in Feb, saying they'd missed about 70% of the year and the school would refer us to whatever body it was. They weren't even registered at the school then. I was furious. I wonder if it's generated automatically and then sent without being checked.

She may be marked as absent if she's later than "Late".

Nineteen year old daughter took herself off to the Uni campus doctor about her anxiety. They said that therapy would help and, as it was early in the year, a referral shouldn't take too long. She has got an appointment for the beginning of next week :-)

Good for her and well done uni. I hope it helps.

Unis certainly seem to be fairly switched on about student mental health.
