Hiya, hope you don't mind me joining the party late. I have Edinburgh marathon in under 2 weeks as my sub 3 attempt and the maranoia and nerves severely kicking in now. I'm 52 and have a current PB of 3.11 from 5 years ago. Started my block late due to injury and covid but have had a good couple of months, some good 60 +miles weeks and recent performances have been 5k 17.04, 10k 35.07 (PB), 10 mile 59.02 (PB), and half 1.18.50, so while I am aware of all the variables coming up to and on the day I am pleased with my block and have given myself as good a chance as I could have. Have a bit of ankle and groin pain but hoping all settles down. Could be my last go as my wife hates me marathon training. Anyway just wanted to share here to try and calm myself down a little :)

Hi Mark that's a very impressive set of results and puts you in very good shape for a sub-3, probably by a big margin but maybe you'd rather just get it done comfortably than risk it with an overly ambitious target.

Thanks all. jdawayinamanger my training has all been pitched toward 2.50 which is the A Aim but I know it's very ambitious. Would be delighted to get round in 2.59.59 to be honest :) As the distance increases my ability decreases :)

All the best markgall, you've definitely got the pace and sounds like you've added a good few weeks of endurance. Sounds like a recipe for sub-3 to me.
