SPR - I believe that is in line with what I ran 3kms in so now turn it into a 15.xx 5km , I couldn't and ran 16.16 :¬)

Gobi - You probably PB'd over 3000 in your 5000 in that case as 9:47 is pretty much 16:16 pace.
J2R - Thanks. Yes I think you're right. A 2 min PB for example should be pretty comfortable but right now I'm thinking of going for something that may be challenging/ less assured.

Ran 35:36.72 for 10000m (3:09 PB). 17:31 to 5000, 18:35 the rest of the way for a 35 second positive split. I fell off the initial pace at just after 5000 and was on my own so happy to keep the positive split down to 35 secs. Was also a very warm day.
Given the pacing, that's probably the hardest race I've ever done, I do get a Power of 10 UK ranking for my troubles though
Hindsight obviously says 17:40-45 first 5000m might have been better, but that would have risked a lonely race all the way as the two pacers in the race where running 17:00 and 17:30.

Have two truly weak PBs left now, both road so unlikely to be touched any time soon. 5 mile (my 10000m pace today was faster as was my long leg pace from the relays in April), and HM (sometimes tempting to do one as an effort rather than all out race, but always think better of it).

Nice SPR - had to re-read that though as I think your splits were 17:31 and 18:05 not 18:35!!

Thanks and yes Larkim. In my head I posted 18:05 as 18:35 would be 1:04. Of course 18:05 is 34 secs not 35.

Well done SPR, on a hot day I imagine the second half was very hard work indeed so you can be well chuffed with holding it together

Well done, SPR - great work this year! The heat affected me yesterday, too, as I failed miserably to achieve my sub-80 target in a half marathon, coming in at 1:22. I just didn't have it at all.
