Gobi, pleased to hear you're getting back there. Does cycling give you any problems? Assuming bike repaired/replaced, of course! :)

I have 9 bikes:-)

I do have issues still, can't use the drops or ride my TT bike due to mobility issue with the shoulder and I still have muscle wastage.

9 bikes is just greedy - it's bike hoarding.

I hope the recovery goes well and you get back the necessary mobility before too long. I wish I knew some technique for getting this myself, actually, as I can't spend long in the drops without getting a really bad neck pain, as a result of chronically stiff neck and shoulders from years working in front of a computer screen, among other things. A friend of mine does bike time trials and has been trying to get me to come along and do a 10 mile time trial, but I simply would not be able to spend 30 minutes in the drops (or on aero bars).

Sorry, brief cycling thread diversion there...

Good work all.
Nothing to report at this end apart from getting fat. Slowly getting back towards a routine with 2 kids rather than 1, so it'll be remedied soon enough.

On the cycling diversion thing, I read in relation to the pro's that there's a good chunk of "feeling comfortable" about riding in a TT position which is simply due to adaption by doing it more. Presumably to a degree the same applies to riding in the drops?

Obviously if your bike is badly fitted, that would be the first place to start, but it might still be the case that you just need to spend more time in the drops to reduce the neck pain issues.

I don't know if any of what I have written is in fact true, but it is a conversation I've witnessed recently by people that (I assume!) know something about these things!

You're right, larkim, it is something you get more used to, and there are simple things which you can do which make it better, like bending more at the waist rather than having a rounded back. Still can't imagine doing it for nearly 30 minutes, though, but maybe I'll get there in the end!

Track league 1500m for me on Saturday then a couple of weeks training and then decide whether to go for 5000 later in June. Little niggles (I've had a couple of down weeks this month to manage things) are making me think I should do it later in the season.

I'm doing 800m in a distance medley relay (1200, 400, 800, 1600) in just over 3 weeks time. Expect our squad to come last as there's going to be some quality uni athletes there but should be fun.

Forgotten that I’ve got track this weekend too. THis time the combo is 3000m / 1500m. Thinking about cruising the 3000m and racing the 1500m harder, but it’s been a bit of a sleep deprived and run deprived week so far so not a great deal of hope for decent times!
