They are my work headphones with microphone that I never use. I was just going to chuck them in the suitcase and forget about them. I could easily have gone 3 months without even opening the headphones case. Not totally mad, but not the best place, either. I probably thought I was hiding them in case house got robbed when I was away. What is an SSN? Social security number? I don´t think I need that as I am not allowed to earn any money from US sources. |

um
Yes, SSN is the Social Security Number. I needed one as although I wasn't earning in US, I was taxed by US on UK income for the time I was there, so had to submit calendars of all trips there. (which was offset by a deduction in UK tax and some complex calculations / extra payments to ensure I didn't lose out on the double taxing and/or NI stuff. They probably paid Deloittes far more to manage my US and UK taxes than I was earning) |

I am only there for 3 months so should not be liable to US income tax. Can't remember, tbh. Will ask.

I’ve lost count of the number of occasions recently when I have congratulated myself on a job well done in expertly loading the dishwasher… then promptly forgotten to put in a tab and start the bloody thing.

Oh yes, @Fitz - and only noticing you didn't set it going when you've emptied half the stuff out and put it away the next morning, so you have to gather it all up and put it back in again?

After getting out of the shower and getting mostly dry, I went to straighten my hair and found that I hadn't rinsed out the shampoo. I thought it was looking a bit odd.

Made water for coffee and put coffee in my mug, only to find it's already half full of cold water...so topped up with boiling water so I didn't scald my mouth. I take coffee black and usually have to wait for ages for it to cool down enough so I don't burn my mouth! |

I'm a big fan of "Inside No 9" and am very keen to see the live stage show starting soon in London. Seeing an advert for it over New Year, I was surprised and a little annoyed at myself for not booking tickets months ago. I went online and found that for most evenings there were just one ticket left, and just a standing-only ticket. So I booked the one ticket. Yesterday i remembered that last summer I had actually booked two tickets for me and my mate to go see it in March... [Full marks to the theatre online refund service, which gave me an instant, no-quibble refund] |

Completely forgetting there’s no signal here at my house, I ordered a DAB alarm clock. It’s got gradual light, birdie sounds and even a battery back-up in case of power cuts (we get them here). What a twat! However, what’s puzzling me is that an old transistor-style DAB radio that I inherited seems to work OK when you pull out its long aerial. Am I missing something? |
