Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

It’s got gradual light, birdie sounds and even a battery back-up in case of power cuts (we get them here). What a twat! However, what’s puzzling me is that an old transistor-style DAB radio that I inherited seems to work OK when you pull out its long aerial. Am I missing something?

What is the make and model of your radio @Red Squirrel

Pure Moment, @Eynsham Red

I’ve managed to get an FM station on it, but can’t find out how to set the time, because I think it does that via DAB and isn’t internet-enabled.

You can set the radio to Auto Synch or Manual time and date in the settings menu.

There’s an online postcode checker which will tell you what the DAB signal coverage is like in your area.

The coverage looks pretty scant for Morayshire 🙁

There is a DAB transmitter near Keith.

Thanks ER. I checked the postcode checker yesterday and noticed we’re not near a transmitter. Neighbours closer to the junction of this road have a signal, but from my next door neighbours and onwards, the signal’s low or non-existent.

I’ll try to Auto Sync (just had to search on what that phrase means:) ) and give setting it manually a go.

Thank you!

Went to make a cup of tea when I got home and there was already a mug and teabag there ready. I have no idea if I got distracted yesterday and never made one or put a tea bag in that mug and then got out another mug and used that instead! I now definitely have a cup of tea...

About This Thread

This morning I went to charge my kindle and instead found myself trying to charge my coffee mug. It was my third coffee of the day as well, clearly not strong enough!

=============

I was just drying my hair after a shower, I switched the hairdryer on and suddenly the bedroom was plunged into darkness, the hairdryer wasn't working either. Great, the electrics have just tripped out.

I find a torch, go to the fuse box but nothing has tripped - turns out I pressed the light switch instead of the hairdryer 'on' button.
