Good to see you getting some good walking miles hillstrider.
Good luck at XC Aquarius I think it's forecast to be wet.

Streatham parkrun was wet and muddy today and a temp course, really didn't enjoy it at all. Good to see the family though. Tomorrow we fly to Barcelona, winds permitting. A few days of sun then back before parkrun next week- probably Oldham.

Thanks 00. Good that you did the parkrun, even though you didn't enjoy it.

I hope that you enjoy your days away in Barcelona in the sunshine 🌞

This morning was 4.29 miles on roads in the heavy rain and strong winds with Giuliana. We had intended to run 5 miles, but decided to call it a day. The rain was stinging my eyes, which was another factor, in fact, they are still watering now.

00 Pity about Streatham parkrun, but understandable that you didn't enjoy it. I trust the weather in Barcelona will be a lot better. Enjoy the break.
HS The weather yesterday was awful wasn't it, I'm not surprised you and Giuliana called it a day just short of your intended 5 miles. I hate it when I'm running into driving rain.

I gave our XC a miss, partly because of the weather but mainly because I wasn't feeling great. I'd been feeling tired and achey for a day or two but just assumed it was a delayed reaction to the Shingles vaccine. However yesterday when I saw the heavy rain and wind I knew I didn't have the energy to tackle a XC course in those conditions. I'll have another rest day today and hopefully get back to running tomorrow.

Aquarius, yes,the weather was atrocious, and it was lucky that we changed our route, as one of the roads we had intended running up was flooded, according to Facebook.

I'm sorry to hear that you haven't been feeling too well. I hope that you haven't caught the flu! A good idea taking another rest day, and hopefully you will be feeling better tomorrow!

This morning was 7.77 miles on roads with Sarah F and Mike.

HS - hope you get positive news from the doctor re those various tests and well done for walking in lieu of running. Margaret has a blood pressure machine she has to use - I can't remember the last time my blood pressure was checked, but it was normal then. I should sit down one day and test mine again to see if it's changed over the years. I see you've been for a 10k run and were planning another with Giuliana. I also saw the news about the Great South Run having to be cancelled due to the atrocious weather conditions. I'm waiting on the new golf shoes (as mentioned below to Aquarius). I'm planning to try them out on the driving range, then I'll play 9 holes with my u3a chums. Then if my feet seem to be okay, I'll contact Alan about playing alongside him sometime (possibly 9 holes - maybe 18?). I see you had horrible rain for your run with Giuliana and had to cut it short - but managed a 7.77 ml run with Sarah F and Mike.

Aquarius - hope the visit from the 'live wire' grandson went okay and the house is still standing :) No news on the golf shoes as yet - he did cover himself by saying he hoped they'd arrive last week but it might not be until this week when they turned up ;) Hope you are soon feeing better and the tiredness goes away.

OO61 - shame about the Streatham parkrun conditions. Enjoy your short break in Barcelona.

As planned, we've been out a few times while enjoying our 'staycation'. Weirdly, the National Trust places we've been to all start with 'C' - we've been to Croome, Coughton Court, Chastleton and Charecote Park :) I'm pleased to say, I've been wearing my walking boots to walk around the estate at each NT place and my feet seem to be okay.

Because we had to cancel our holiday in York, that meant Margaret missed out on her afternoon tea at Betty's Tea Rooms - so to make up for that, we booked the same thing at a local hotel. Thankfully the rain stayed away so we didn't get wet walking from the car park to the hotel reception.

I noticed in the strong winds yesterday, the fence close to the garage was waving around a bit. A quick inspection showed the problem is the post has weakened at the bottom. But as the post is the other side of the fence, it's inaccessible to me. But I think I should be able to come up with some way of attaching the top of the post to the fence behind it. That other post is part of our neighbours fence - but it's behind their shed and to them, totally inaccessible so I doubt they'll have any problem. The other part of my 'cunning plan' is that, as the end of the fence is close to the corner of our garage, I may be able to attach it to the brickwork.

Hope you are feeling better soon Aquarius. Shame about XC.
Wait until the neighbours garage falls down Wtnmel 😆
Glad you had a better run hillstrider.

Sitges is glorious. 22 degrees and mild sea temps. Just ran a mile on the beach, and a few metres in the sea. Much more planned tomorrow. Spent most of the day exploring old haunts.

WtnMel, thanks, I'm still awaiting the results of the FIT test. It's always a good idea to check on blood pressure now and again.

I see that you are still awaiting your new golfing shoes, and will try them out on the driving range when they arrive. It will be good playing 9 holes with your u3a chums, and then setting up a match with Alan.

Good that walking round the NT Estates in your walking boots hasn't caused any problems with your feet.

Good luck with fixing the fence.

0061,thanks. It was a good run which we all enjoyed.

Good that you are having a good time in Barcelona and planning more runs.

Just the usual Tuesday Farmers Walk this morning. It was bright and sunny, but rain forecast later.

0061 Sitges sounds lovely, perfect weather too. Make the most of it.

WtnMel Strange that your staycation outings all started with a "C" ! Good that your feet have been fine in your walking boots, any further news on the golf shoes? I'm glad Margaret got a nice afternoon tea, even if it wasn't at Betty's Tea Rooms as originally planned, hope she's feeling a lot better now. Good luck with the fence.

HS Well done on your 7.7 miles with Sarah F and Mike

I felt better yesterday and ran just under 6 miles. Still getting an ache in my right knee, and managed to turn my left ankle in a pothole, but otherwise all okay. A longer run planned for tomorrow.

WtnMel, thanks. Good to hear that you have had another walk in your walking boots without any problems.

Aquarius, thanks. Mondays run was a bit of a 'magical mystery tour,' and very enjoyable.

I'm glad to hear that you felt better yesterday, and ran just under 6 miles. Not such good news though that you are still getting an ache in your right knee, and turned your left ankle in a pothole. Good luck with your proposed longer run tomorrow.

This morning was 4.73 miles with Sarah F and Mike, including 5 minute hill reps on each of the 3 hills at Ipley Crossroads; with a 20 metre sprint after the final uphill.
