Aquarius, well done for hitting your targets during the interval training session.
I'm sorry to hear that your right knee is hurting again after Tuesday and this mornings run. I was afraid that this would happen. Aches and pains are always reluctant to leave us. 😕
Thanks for your comments re yesterday's interval session. They certainly don't make any allowances for us, but I make them work hard to finish ahead of me on the efforts. This will make you laugh. Mike's granddaughter joined us for the session, and he asked her how old she thought I was. She didn't know, so I said "the same as Donald Trump." You should have seen her face 🤣
This morning was a solo 4 hilly road miles.

Sorry I've not found time to pop in for a few days ..
Aquarius - my Mum was fine thanks (no change and still in good health). I'm slightly surprised there were still midges around for your run - they must be Northern ones and "well 'ard" I see you managed that 8.5ml run with fast bits and kept up the pace targets but with wobbly legs by the end! Hope your sore knee goes away.
HS - my chest muscles were a bit achey on Monday morning from the Sunday swim .. I obviously overdid it a bit I think I'll have a lime & soda with my dinner next time - with the hotel mark-up, it was £7 for that pint of beer. I may be out of touch but I thought a pint of beer was £4-4.50 these days? Well done re the 7ml run with Sarah F & Mike. Nice photo of you and your running buddies at parkrun. Btw, I saw a local doing a farmer's walk when I drove past the local Tesco earlier today Had a chuckle at Mike's grand-daughter not believing your advanced age given you can still run fast
OO61 - see you have entered the Blyth sands race and Aquarius thinks you are being very brave. Is it on soft sand or something .. or maybe on the dunes?
I'm just trying to carry out mission impossible .. booking trips to see my Mum that don't clash too much with other things going on like u3a groups, family visits. It's proving a bit fiddly but I'm sure I'll get there in the end.
The other thing I need to do is get in touch with people interested in the proposed u3a Canasta group. Rose (the groups co-ordinator) wrote to us all asking for ideas and most people plumped for a Tue morning. But we'll need to get together to discuss which Tuesday and more to the point, agree a date when we CAN get together to decide on which day. And I expect most people will take one pace back when it comes to volunteering to be group leader

WtnMel, were you swimming crawl or breaststroke? I never mastered the crawl, so all my swimming was breaststroke.
£7 for a pint of beer 🍺 no wonder that the younger generation are turning teetotal.
I'm glad that you liked the photo.
I'm not the only Farmers Walker then😅
You seem to spend a lot of time with the u3a group for a variety of activities, the latest being Canasta. What are the odds that they expect you to be group leader?
The usual Friday Farmers Walk this morning, and this afternoon I have my blood test.

Hillstrider - breaststroke, as I've never mastered front crawl. I keep telling myself to get front crawl lessons, but never get round to doing so. And given I'm the first person to respond to Rose's email about the proposed Canasta group, I'd say it fairly likely the others are hoping someone else, me maybe, will do the donkey work and organise it and they can sit on their bottoms in the meantime!

Congrats with the swimming Wtnmel. I taught myself front crawl and breathing on the side but it took much practice. Swimming is all technique and I'm fairly slow. As a decent runner, swimming is a humbling experience. Such good benefits though, I hang in there.
£7 a pint hillstrider, I think I'd give up too. Those are London prices.... Parkrun today at Newcastle town moor.

Thanks 00. Sorry to hear that you were beaten by your daughter, but I suppose that is to be expected.
That sounds like a very enjoyable post parkrun breakfast in the Newcastle Students Union.

WtnMel you might as well accept the inevitable - you will be organising the Canasta group
HS Excellent parkrun time, well done. Must have been a good AG too?
0061 We did the Town Moor on Saturday too, but start a lot further back than you will (takes us over 30 seconds to reach the start line after which it's a slow jog until the field thins out a bit). I ran with Steve for the first two miles, then set out to find the young girl who'd pushed through a non-existent gap earlier and trod on Steve's foot. I know it sounds silly (and petty) but in my mind I felt it would even things out if I could beat her. I caught up and passed her with about half a mile to go, but just as I reached the finish funnel she weaved past to finish ahead of me. Grrr! With over 600 runners I suppose it's not surprising I didn't see you there 0061, but glad you had a nice breakfast with your daughter afterwards.
My right knee is still bothering me, it took a good mile or so for it to ease off yesterday. I'll be cutting back on my running this week to give it a chance to get better as I've a 10k next Sunday.
