HS - well done re the parkrun result (nice photo btw) and your hilly solo 5ml run.

Aquarius - I'll have to visit the local builders merchants to see if I can get concrete fence post spurs and the big bolts for using to hold in place and support the fence posts. Well done re the 8ml run last Thu and the 6ml run with hill repeats. As you say, you can see from those mileages, the training plan is ramping up!

OO61 - glad I made you smile with my description of the sign I'd like to give to dodgy drivers. On the way to Tring this morning, the driver in front of me entered a 'keep clear' area by a junction .. a driver waiting to turn right who he was obstructing gave him a sarcastic slow handclap .. I was tempted to join in :)

I'm in the Holiday Inn in Aylesbury this evening as I've been to see my Mum today. I had time to visit the pool and did 30 lengths (20 M pool, so 600 metres). I probably undid the good work though by having a beer with my dinner ;)

WtnMel Sounds to me like you earned that beer. Hope you found your mum in good health.

HS Sorry for the confusion, the 8 mile run and parkrun was last Thursday and Saturday.
0061 I'm not training for any particular race, just trying to improve in preparation for the various events coming up over the next couple of months.

WtnMel, thanks. I hope that your mum was feeling ok when you visited her yesterday? Well done for your swim, and enjoying a beer 🍺 with your dinner.

Aquarius, I must have got 'the wrong end of the stick' 😕

0061, good luck with the Blyth Sands.

This morning was an enjoyable 7 miles in the forest with Sarah F and Mike. There was a fairly chilly wind, but no rain.

I'm posting another photo from Saturdays parkrun which is the two Sarahs, Mike and myself.

HS That looks a lovely location for a parkrun, particularly at this time of the year. Well done on your 7 mile run this morning

0061 I think you are brave doing Blyth Sands! My next race is the Town Moor Memorial on 10th, then Slaley Hall 10k Trail the following weekend, with the new XC fixture the weekend after. Quite a busy month!

Aquarius, Blyth is one of my favourites. I'm thinking of doing Temple Park xc in December. The town moor 10k is a doubtful, but you might see my daughter there. I have a sore knee so a fast 10k would be a bit risky.

Lovely photo hillstrider.

Aquarius, thanks, that's one of our favourite parkrun courses.

Good luck with all your future races. You've certainly got a busy November!

0061, thanks, you can see that we enjoyed the run. It was Sarah F's 150th and my 120th.

Good luck with your future races, but take care of that sore knee.

The usual Tuesday Farmers Walk this morning.

6 mile run at the reservoir yesterday, chilly but a surprising number of midges around. They must be a special breed that's resistant to the cold! Tomorrow's training session is an odd mix of fast and slow. It's a total of 8.5 miles consisting of the usual warm up mile, then three lots of flat out 800 metres, each 800 having a fast mile and a slow (jog or walking) mile afterwards. I don't think this will be a very enjoyable session somehow.

0061 I hope your sore knee improves soon.

HS are you running today?

Aquarius, well done for yesterday's 6 miles at the reservoir.

Your training session tomorrow sounds very tough, with a high total mileage including hard intervals. Flat out 800 metres followed by a fast mile and recovery mile. I wish you luck with it, and hope that it doesn't resurrect any old injuries 🙏

I ran 5 miles with the Wednesday Group this morning including 5 x 100 metres, 5 x 200 metres with 30 seconds recoveries, and 4 x 400 metres with 60 seconds recoveries on grass.

HS Thanks for your good luck wishes, it was almost as bad as I expected it to be :) I managed to hit all the target paces but the last fast mile was done on wobbly legs. My right knee (which has been bothering me on and off for a while now) was rather sore at the start of the session. I noticed a sharp pain in it when running at the reservoir on Tuesday, and again this morning when I first started running. It eased off during today's session so I'm hoping it's nothing more than the usual age-related wear and tear. No doubt time will tell....

Your run yesterday with the Wednesday Group sounds quite challenging, they don't make any allowances for "mature" runners do they? Great running.
