0061 I hope you had an enjoyable wedding anniversary in Keswick, and although racing was forbidden perhaps you at least managed parkrun?

WtnMel that's quite a lot of shredding. Ours is building up nicely, but it's a job that Steve usually undertakes so one less for my "to do" list. Good thinking about using a mobile phone and Shokz to make a WhatsApp call to your mum. I hope it turns out to be a good solution for you both. Keeping fingers crossed for your foot injury to continue to improve. On the subject of insurances our house and car insurances are both due to renew next month so I got some quotes (in the 3 week "golden period") and managed to get both policies with new insurers for the same prices as we paid last year. Our car renewal had been quoted by the current insurer as almost 40% more than last time, and our house and contents renewal was quoted as about 30% more, so to get them within a pound or two of last years prices was a good outcome, particularly as it's a job I hate doing. Glad it's over for another year.

HS I hope you didn't have any ill effects from your RSV jab on Friday, and were able to do parkrun on Saturday. The older we get the more jabs we have to have it seems! Steve will be 75 in a couple of weeks so no doubt will be offered his soon.

A disappointing 10k for me on Sunday, about 4 minutes slower than last year. Not sure why, I've been using the Garmin training plan but on the day I just had no strength in my legs and felt really washed out afterwards. I've had a bit of a cold hanging around this week which may account for it to a degree, but as I've a 5k tomorrow night I'm hoping to feel somewhat better by then.

Aquarius, I see that you have outstanding shredding too.

Well done for getting competitive insurance quotes for your car and house insurance.

Thanks, I had no after effects from the RSV jab, and did my quickest Bartley Park parkrun of the year. See below.

I'm sorry to hear that Sundays 10k was disappointing, but your cold may have been somewhat to blame. Good luck with tomorrow's 5k, I hope that your cold will have cleared up in time!

WtnMel, I'm glad that the house and contents insurance problem has been sorted satisfactorily.

Those 2 bags of shredding look impressive. You must have been busy!

00, I often cut up paper with scissors, if it's just one or two pages.

I ran Saturdays Bartley Park parkrun in 29.02, which is the quickest there so far this year. The WAVA was 69.17%.

Sundays solo road run was just 4 miles as there was 'nothing in the tank!'

This morning was an enjoyable 7.14 miles in the forest with Sarah F and Mike. I've now run 1005 miles this year

Sorry the 10k didn't go well Aquarius, don't be too disappointed. My daughter was fairly happy. She finished 7th but was overtaken by 2 girls near the end and missed out on a prize. If I had attended I would have been well beaten by junior. And yes my wife and I ran Keswick parkrun. We had a Sunday roast at a highly rated Keswick pub for our anniversary meal, but it was very disappointing. Apart from that, a great weekend.
Good going hillstrider, especially your pakrun and high wava.

0061 bad luck for your daughter, but 7th is a great finishing position, congratulations to her. Pity about your disappointing anniversary meal, was this your first visit to that pub? Sometimes online reviews are unreliable.

HS 1005 miles is an impressive total (and the year isn't over yet!) Well done on a great time at Bartley Park, and so very close to that elusive 70% WAVA.

My run last night (3.45 miles) was part of our club's Grand Prix series and I'm pleased to say I felt much better running it than I had done on Sunday. Also I managed to finish this time before the mass stampede that nearly had me knocked over last month. Just as I was about to start someone said they had a prize for me, but as I was about to set off they left it with one of the timekeepers. The prize was from Sunday's run, where I finished 3rd FV70. Before you all congratulate me I have to own up that there were only 3 V70 ladies taking part :). The first lady finished 8 minutes before me and the second finished 4 minutes before me, so I've nothing to brag about. This Sunday is the Slaley Hall trail 10k which is quite a difficult one, the first couple of miles nearly all uphill then across a field into a mixture of boggy ground and forest trails if memory serves me. I've done it a couple of times before and swore I'd never do it again, but you know what runners are like......

Congrats on the prize Aquarius. My take on it is that you are one of only 3 fv70s fit enough and fast enough to compete in the race- a very impressive achievement, so take it 😇. And well done at the GP.

I had 2 runs today. With my wife this morning and with my daughter this evening. Both fairly slow and easy.

Got something to say?
