Project 2025 calls for a nationwide abortion ban. Given this is the plan he will enact (his denials are clear lies), I think they've got that one wrong. |

If that got to his desk he would sign it. No question. If he says he wouldn't he's lying (shocking, I know).

Unemployment rates. Show 2020 under Trump as highest, as you would expect because of covid, far higher than 2009. https://www.bls.gov/charts/employment-situation/civilian-unemployment-rate.htm# What numbers had they used? |

Ok so Trump left us with the worst unemployment since the great depression. They then use a single peak in 2009. The single biggest peak was 2020. If they are going to compare like for like I would want to compare the unemployment rate at the end of each president's term since the depression. |

HappyG(rrr) wrote: I said "social conservative" JB. What you are talking about is governance and historical values there are different to social values. I was just pointing out that he is not "conservative", he is extremist. "Social conservatism in the United States is the defense of traditional family values rooted in Judeo-Christian ethics and the nuclear family. There are two overlapping subgroups of social conservatives: the traditional and the religious." Well, if you define traditional as "let's go back to when white guys were in charge", that's one definition, although a misguided one. Is he a religious conservative? Hell no, unless you have completely surrendered to the personality cult. The debate was a good illustration of what happens when you have squeezed all the sober and dignified men and women out of your party, and you are left to "prep" with fruitcakes and extremists like Gaetz and Laura Loomer. "Hit her with the cat eating scandal, sir! It's a real zinger and she will have no credible response. Also: killing babies - I got that from a Qanon chat group and it's kosher." |

I’d just like to refer back to @Pothunter and his post about thread conduct. He’s absolutely right, this thread would benefit from a little more courtesy in places. Those who persistently ignore this request and make personal comments about others can look forward to a bit of time on the sidelines. As I’m currently 6hrs behind UK time, I got to watch a fair bit of the presidential debate last night. Immigrants eating pets was quite the shocker, as was ‘the FBI is lying’, and actually anything that came out of his mouth now I come to think of it. |

MAGA seems to me mostly a traditional conservative movement but broad enough to mean many things to many people - Make America Great Again - the again being key. Turn back time to when everything was simpler and better (that imagined past only seen through rose tinted specs).
