25% single person discount is definitely being considered even if a decision hasn't been made as Starmer's spokesperson refused to confirm/ deny today. Free bus passes for pensioners are staying though. bbc.co.uk |

I read somewhere that the pressure to change the single person discount is coming from Councils which makes some sense given the cuts in funding they've had over the last 14 years.

And more to the point, like yesterday's decision about the winter fuel allowance, it seems to be the wrong solution to a genuine issue to improve.

I can see the principle of someone living in a big house on their own paying the full amount. I imagine that's more likely to hit pensioners?

Yes, I also wondered the double whammies against pensioners here. There's no way they could go after their bus passes too for that reason. Surely?!
