The bus passes has been 100% ruled out, that's why it seems pretty clear that single person discount changes are being considered. It's been brought up enough times that they'd have squashed it by now if it wasn't at least in consideration.

Notice the article wants to proposal to apply to the the top four bands which would be E, F, G, H. Obviously this is 10 years ago so any proposal currently under consideration, could be very different. |

How do the free passes work? They swipe it, that gets registered and first buses go to the government for £2 for the fare?

Removing the single discount is a tax on bereavement, perhaps also on neurodiversity, disability, the elderly, those who are divorced and people who live on the fringes. Plenty of older folk live in small studio flats, what do they do, move into a house share Again zero attempt to correct the inequity of the council tax. Rural areas disproportionately pay more than urban areas. Hardworking families of course are not affected by this |

"The last Conservative justice secretary warned Rishi Sunak that if he failed to introduce an early prisoner release scheme (like the one that has been brought in today by Labour) they might need to "get down on their knees and pray" for the criminal justice system. I can reveal Alex Chalk repeatedly spoke to the then prime minister, as well as officials in the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and Downing Street, about what he called a "pray-date" that he warned was no later than mid-June. He feared that after that point overcrowding could get so severe that the police would be forced to introduce Operation Brinker, effectively a one-in-one-out system. Officials have told me they feared that could result in riots breaking out across the country's prison estates." Ah... another looming problem that Rishi hoped to swerve by calling an election and losing. Finances, prisons, imminent Brexit chickens coming home to roost. Great strategy. 100% successful. Genius. |

Curious. As the Tories actually let out more than 10,000 early in the last few months. Don't know the exact breakdown of how early, etc. Tories were attacking it as stupid yesterday despite both this and the fact they were doing the same. |

Another example of tough choices and opting to punish the poor may be ending the £2 bus fare cap while cancelling fuel duty rises Another thought on Labour and pensioners is this is what they did to disabled folk when last in power |
