Rather than the MPs promoting themselves and their views, I thought the idea was to go look at this, it's good innit, you should support it, now go away and do that. Which is basically what you ought to be doing with your MP all the time anyway, whoever, whatever persuasion they are.

I'm not at all sure when I'll run my next one, weekend calendar looks a bit full, could be July :-0

MPs are elected to serve all their constituents not just the ones on their side. Local MP turns up to all sorts of local events and initiatives on a non-political basis and I see no problem with that. Yes you can see that as free publicity if you like but that's their job and goes with the territory. A political pressure group of some sort is an entirely different matter and even charities etc are a bit of a grey area. As the charter makes clear.

Gobi doesn't need an insulated camelbak. He can buy the coffee run the parkrun and it still be warm when he's finished

I think the issue is that the RD invited said political pressure group rather than an MP turning up to run/support etc.

I agree with the charities thing as well. Our local parkrun is on RSPB land and we encourage people to use the RSPB cafe. However, on occasion people have turned up having charity cake sales, which is all very well, but shouldn't we be loyal to our existing partner?

You are if people use it every week, nothing wrong with helping someone else as well.

I cant catch up with my MP-- he's too fast

I like the fact he gets to run/ volunteer in peace, without us giving him grief

(he's in the cabinet , so probably gets a fair bit outside of parkrun!)

Amazing things thermoses...my coffee is hot even after driving 90 mins to, and completing, a half-marathon :-)

Coffee is my primary PED but I have never tried it during a race. Am tempted to suggest it for this weekend's marathon....
