Just a thought - it's not tied into some Eurovision theme is it?

The key issue with this political thing is intent. The charter says parkrun Event Directors should protect parkrun events from being used to publicise political and other campaigns and causes, or used by campaigns and causes to leaflet/canvass parkrunners so there is explicit mention of political but it also says other. From time to time we have local running and hashing clubs take over all the volunteer roles and there is some publicity for the club. When our local football team has a key match we are encouraged to wear their colours. When there is a patriotic occasion the bunting and Union Flags come out. We also have collections for a local food bank and that obviously casts a number of political shadows and the same can be said for the NHS days etc. If the action is purely altruistic there is no issue. If the action is a blatant pitch then it should not be allowed. Unfortunately, most fall between these two extremes and so some judgement had to be made. If a political party wanted to do all the roles and the only noticeable difference between that day and any other Saturday is that the RD was slightly quieter (our RD has a voice that puts a foghorn to shame) then I would have no issue with that. If I have to stand and listen to a political speech then they can bugger off back to wherever they came from. Time and a place for everything, 9am Saturday is parkrun. |

Hi all, for some reason I can never get the parkrun events map to load on my PC via the link on their website. Some kind soul ages ago sent me another link that worked fine. had to do a reformat and have lost the link now, is anyone able to send me another one. No idea why the map doesn't work for me. Tried on various platforms (Chrome, FF etc). |

Wow, that is perfect, thanks! Last question, I think one/all of the organisers of California Country Park were/are on here, but the messages I exchanged with them last year have gone from my Fetch inbox. If they read this, could they let me know if it is buggy friendly? I have the rare chance to do a run this Saturday, and with Frimley Lodge closed (I think) I am looking for somewhere else flat and I remember end of last year they suggested leaving it until the spring/early summer before attending. Thanks
