Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Harrogate is flat, 50% grass/50% tarmac and three laps. It’s not the most exciting course but it can be fairly fast. About 500 runners I think.

If you’ve got transport then Fountains Abbey is worth the trip, but check the page carefully, you need to be there early (parked by 8.40, top gate closes at 8.50).

As RD at Fountains I'm biased but would definitely recommend a drive out to Fountains Doc! :)

I usually cycle on a Saturday now so only parkrun if there’s a reason I can’t cycle. Which often means I run it in rubbish weather!

Given the choice between Harrogate and Fountains Abbey, I would drag myself to FAbbey if needed. :) Cannot say I enjoyed running around what is effectively a big grass field at Harrogate that much but clearly over 400 souls don't mind it too much.

Harrogate types will reach for the smelling salts to hear you describe The Stray as a “big grass field”😂

I’m not born and bred, but it is a big grass field. And we only run round part of it. But it’s is essentially a square you go round three times.

Though at the moment Yorkshire Water are digging up The Stray so the course is slightly more interesting, but much less picturesque!

:) non-runner - it was either that or a large roundabout. I erred on kindness. Although it was under 6 inches of water when I last ran there and any semblance of grass around the perimeter had been eroded by parkrun.
