Been planning some parkrun tourism this year for my return to running. Top of my list Heartwood Forest has just been suspended until the Spring. Appraently the course is too muddy? Did gadebridge yesterday with my studs on and was great fun. Interesting that some courses close due mud and other thrive in it. Tring another favourite of mine is posting about the mud in the publicity. Same landowner as Heartwood as well.

Scanning was ok with the app but there were only 39 runners :)

Also, the RD had tried to turn the volume up on the timer phone and added 9 extra finishers :)

Ayr is always muddy, if they shut it due to that it would never take place! I guess it may depend on whether the track is hardened enough to cope, churning up what is supposed to be a grassy field is a bit more antisocial than just trudging along a soft track. Also, local landowner/authority attitudes will vary.

Can anyone from the Stevenage area tell me how long it would take to walk from the station to the Fairlands Valley Centre (which I believe is near the start)?

Google maps says 1.9 miles, 27min walk .....very jogable as it’s on cycle paths.

3 milesfrom Knebworth station ( I’ve done that last couple of weeks )

Heartwood Forest has now formally suspended is parkrun until the Spring, posting the following message on its Facebook page:
“Due to recent inclement weather, the conditions of some of the paths have unfortunately started to deteriorate and now need time to recover. The Woodland Trust and Heartwood Forest parkrun have therefore come to the joint decision to suspend parkrun at Heartwood Forest from late January until spring. The last parkrun until spring-time was on January 20th. Heartwood Forest parkrun would like to thank the Woodland Trust for their support for parkrun. They do a fantastic job of maintaining this incredible place, and we share their view that the health of the forest is of utmost importance.”
