Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Yes they do Groundhog because it’s a Saturday so they are normal parkruns not extra ones

We are in discussions but probably no to Christmas Day but yes to NYD

Has doing a New Years Day double been stopped?

Yes, it was announced in June 2020: parkrun.org.uk

To be honest is was getting out of control. We have had 2 NYDs will around 600 people which is 3x what we get on a normal Saturday. It will be nice just to have a normal day. I'll be RD this year if anyone wants to come and say Hi.

The ED of our local (tiny) parkrun floated the idea of festive runs. I've offered my services. Takes away any temptation to offer to work.

We've got a number of core volunteers who love to do Xmas day, so we always have it. I think it's very important. I know several members of our community who wouldn't see another person all day if we didn't do parkrun.

We never do NYD and won't this year either. We have the convenient excuse of the course of the Cleethorpes NYD10k passing by every possible access to the country park.

I think this will be the first NYD we have held. Always host Xmas day, with reduced volunteers.

We never do 25th Dec - it's the one day each year the NT close the park so we have no access. NYD is usually on though and I see no reason why we won't this year - it's a relief (as was discussed at length in the 'other' thread last summer) not to have to worry about co-ordination with the others round and about.

Just don't mention tiffin - you lot had me drooling yesterday. Made a lovely dark chocolate ginger tiffin last Christmas.
