I don't remember needing a barcode when I did Bramhall in 2009... but perhaps I am wrong because my number is lower than Kinky's! :-o

Definitely optional at Wimbledon for a long time after they existed as I remember queuing for a person with a clipboard to take your name.

Anyway we're hoping for Monsal this weekend followed by a bit of cycling up the trail. Anyone going?

Wiki says "Barcodes were introduced in October 2009" .

That makes sense as I know they were used when I started in Jan 2010.

I started in Jan 09 so in theory should be low but my number is in the 25000 range. Can't remember when I actually got my barcode though but remember it being when I went to a new event and it was a requirement.

Gobi I don't think I have been since 2011 and even then the difference between it previously and 2 years later was insane!

BK brighter days ahead
KinkyS - your number should be the one generated when they were introduced based on your registration whether you printed it or not. My 2009 is in the 49k’s

Monsal is a great parkrun, nice out and back along the trail. It's slightly downhill for the out and slightly uphill for the back. The cafe at Hassop Station isn't far from the start/finish and their food is lovely. They also do parkrun specials outside (bacon butty and a cuppa at reduced price).
