Half a mile, I'd say. Marshal 1 (turn up into woods) to Marshal 2 (crossroads) is 800m. Which is also 800m down after HBH :-) (750m really after the final wee kicker.)

Indeed @Gobi - training for a very hilly race before The Great Interruption, I'd go back after parkrun and slog back up and down, even past the crossroads and further on up the slope.

Nice, Merry Christmas and Happy NewG(rrr), some proper cross-country. Wonder what everyone looked like by the third time round?

It's funny everyone said at start how it wasn't as muddy as usual and what a shame! For the couple that went proper face first into the burn, I think they would say it was muddy enough!

Enjoy Falkirk this weekend, Dv and Ally and mrs Ally. Anyone coming to Lochore Meadows parkrun (aka The Meedies) in Fife, I'll be your first marshal, or barcode scanner, not sure!

Happy parkrunning everyone. :-) G

One of the guys in my club face planted in that mud, he was getting a ribbing at Intervals last Tuesday.

Although tbf, a few guys were saying apart from that section it wasn’t muddy enough.

BK brighter days ahead

I always run in road shoes but don’t use my best in winter (OH runs in trails ).
Majority of route is on tarmac path but if busy the start can be a bit of a bun fight to avoid having to run on mud (left) or grass (right) before getting back on the path. There is a short section up a gravel hill, that can puddle a bit especially at the top where there is a narrow gap between a gate - leaving options of left side with a big puddle or right side up and down a low muddy slope ( I fell breaking my wrist once - but had gone down the side slope rather than on to the end ). Then the downhill through the wood will definitely be muddy - it was ok last week but it has been raining a lot since then ( keep to the left at the bottom as the steps are less deep ). The route then crosses the grass ‘polo field’ about the width of a football pitch - will be very soft and

squishy. You are then back on tarmac.

Bexley.
Gravel hill starts just beyond 3 at 4 and the wood/polo field rejoins tarmac before 5. The rest on tarmac.

Looks like we're heading down to Hilly Fields tomorrow. Apparently aptly named.

See you there. I’m RD tomorrow. Sunny but cold is the forecast and the breeze will be less severe than last week.
