JustCommando, I too am a bit perplexed about how fast Eden Project supposedly is! A great venue/course, but I don't think of it as being particularly quick.

Book ends for me are 1. Victoria Dock and 686. Henley on Thames. Henley is not near the Thames but on hills overlooking the town, narrow, steep, rooty and technical with a fast downhill finish. It's a lovely proper cross country run.

57.5 Days of Pain
Tim Grose has been quite public about how his rankings work, including how these figures are calculated.

1. The algorithm tries to use performances where people are trying hard.
2. Conditions are averaged over the period of data collection.
3. There is little difference in scores that are close together. Conditions on the day are likely to be a bigger factor.
4. Newer and smaller events may have scores based on limited data.

There really isn't a way to avoid certain biases (everyone goes to certain quick events and tries their absolute hardest wearing their racing gear and cheatingest cheat shoes; everyone turns up at a slow event so intimidated that they just wrap up warm and jog gently), but I suspect the impact isn't enormous.

Sigh
Back to Cafe chat: I have a new nearest parkrun, at Trentham Gardens. Half as close as my home parkrun (Hanley). I'm planning on going there for my first visit on 26th if anyone is in the area, and fancies meeting up.

It's also my actual birthday on that day, so a perfect excuse for cake. cake

Sigh - not far from me so I may be able to do the 26th.

I have known Tim a good few years. He is still running some solid times and seems to collect modern shoes

Tim did a video a little while ago where he used Fetch data for part of it.

In a quandary about tomorrow- tempted to go to Haldon Forest which would be my second time, but I'm a bit stingy and 4 quid for parking is putting me off a bit so might go somewhere else nearby.
Decisions, decisions...

Velociraptor
I was going to visit Talkin Tarn parkrun this weekend, but have responded to a, "Do you or don't you want this run to take place?" email and will be tail walking at Keswick instead.
