I'll be needing a spreadsheet to keep tabs on all the training and health reports on here. Good wishes to all. @Torque Steer promising news indeed.

I only took up running for brief periods in my late 40s and 50s. I was never "fast", but a steady-as-you-go in-the-pack club runner who was always competitive and trained hard. Proud of my WAVA scores when they reached the low 70s, although these seem to have fallen away with revised calculations!

As for this latest return, still so far so good. Abbreviated training plan for the 10k continues although dropped the mid-week weights session as not conducive to running focus. Two more longer run targets reached, 8k and then a 10k this morning approximating the race route. So I made the distance! Also my longest run since an abysmal St Neots HM nine years ago. Looking back, always other reasons why I stop running, but at that time, over-training may well have been a factor not recognised.

An over-distance 12k pencilled in for start of next week, then a taper such as is left, but may scratch the long one and limit myself to shorter speedier(!) sessions only. Pace painfully slow, but Fetch's rolling 10 week window shows improvement from 13 minute miling to 11 or 10. If I can ever get back to 8 or 7 minute miles I'll be quite content.

Not sure that there is anything to be gained from the over-distance 12k, @EarlyRiser , apart from a few aches and pains! If you are thinking of 12k you must obviously be confident that the 10k distance won't be an issue!

A few people mentioned that I was once speedy: all relative! When I set my 5k track pb I was very nearly lapped and was 12th of 13, with the first two both clocking 13:54 xx.

@OO61 , I hope that you are running a nice gentle flat parkrun tomorrow...and go well on Sunday!

@OO61 - that must have hurt - and Ill bet he wind was blowing in from the sea:-)

@Solo mind that sniffle!

@NZD it's all about th edistance now, not the time - which will be what it is.
In the past I was always pleased with whatever time I ran as it reflected what training I could fit in and, as long as I had nothing left at the end, I could stagger away satisfied :-)

@alehouse I have tried emailing @MickC at addresses I had but it bounced back.

@EarlyRiser - you don't need the over distance run just concentrate on a good taper with shorter, race pace efforts included.
Hope it's not too warm for you!

Pleasant stroll in early sun an dmist this morning - proper autumn weather and everything golden hued.

Sunday may see a donning of running shoes... if I can find where my wife has hidden them!

@EarlyRiser good progress indeed.
Hopefully you will have found the running shoes by tomorrow morning, @Torque Steer 😊
Hope the sniffles have largely disappeared @Solo.

Fitness seems to be trending in right direction, with parkrun time (24:28) a 43 sec improvement on last week and b/km down to 752. Similar (or better!) improvement next week would go down nicely!

That is a nice weekly improvement Sa@NZD Sadly cold is much the same with elevated HR. After my easy run this morning Garmin confirmed it as I have dropped from 56 VO2 max to 52 🙁 Still a week to go though !

Oh, not so good for both of you ☚ī¸.

Bermuda not until mid-Jan. But I'm aiming to do a local 10k race in 2 weeks. Hence the 'rush' to get my fitness back after the cold I had a couple of weeks ago 🏃🤞

@Solo that is a sizeable drop in VO2max, and unfortunate timing. Inevitable with a cold I guess. Still very good for a female though.
