@Torque Steer I have run the B to C many times but not for a few years. I once ran a 58:Xx in my yoof. It was also the last race where I broke the hour for 10 miles, about 10 years ago. That start finish problem was always an issue. NZD good luck with the 10k. Strange it's your first for such a popular distance. Canute, sounds like good progress with the walk/jog. Tapering for Chester marathon on Sunday, so easy week here. |

@OO61 - good to hear of the taper I am struggling to remember the exact years I ran BtoC but it must have been '83 & '84 as it came in that sweet spot post FLM and GNR and before the Morpeth to Newcastle race on New Year's Day - now that was always a challenge :-)! - and a marker in the build up to the FLM again as I had a GFA spot. It remained my fastest 10 mile race until a new race came along centred on Team Valley/Lamesley which was nearly all flat and I dipped under 55 min. Suspect that race has long gone. Another mile of walk this morning trying to clear the brain fog as the antibiotics are slowly tapering off. One good thing is they have so affected by taste buds and general digestion that I have had to force myself to eat even small quantities of food and so some weight has dropped off and I am no longer threatening >16 stone!! Only 20lb to go....... Wordle in six - didn't like it! |

@NZD - is your HM back in the Caribbean? If so, don't forget your shoes The 10K will be a good bridge to the HM distance - it's effectively a full aerobic effort - just need to stretch out that intensity for bit further in the HM! |

I enjoyed your race "report" probably more than you did, @Solo ! Good that you got to run, and better than you were able to stand on the top step of the podium, so to speak! Too much to comment re others, apart from hoping @Torque Steer is soon back in action! Sunday I managed 7 x 2.5 minutes with walk breaks; all very slow, totalling 17.5 minutes. Today was 4 x 5 minutes with walk breaks, equally slowly, total 20 minutes. Will have to see if there is any reaction in the tendon area but otherwise the plan is to stick at 20 minutes and gradually lengthen the running sections to, for example 6/7/7 or 8,8,4. Not rushing having been patient for over seven months! Wordle failure today; 3s and 4s the last few days. |

@Torque Steer sounds like you have some very impressive pbs to tell me about when you are feeling better! Thanks @alehouse @NZD I would very much like to rewind Sunday. It was perfect racing weather and I could have registered a better time. However, my HM is only a couple of weeks away and as I wasn't racing full out with no one to chase πit felt more like a really hard run, which is probably better prep for my HM. I am going to under train over the next two weeks and hopefully get to the start line refreshed and well. I have the sniffles at the moment and seem to have a tendency to get ill every October near my target race !!! Definitely don't rush alehouse, any tiny step forward is better than going backwards! @Welshpoppy ouch! Well done on your continued weight loss π @NZD guaranteed pb. Nice π |

@NZD good to see the continuing improvements in b/Km. The increments are small but creditable in light of the disruptions to training recently. @Torque Steer good to hear that walking is helping dissipate the antibiotic fog. @Welshpoppy the continuing weight loss is pleasing. I hope the impact of the weight on you toe had no persisting consequences. @alehouse good to hear that you are gradually increasing the length of the run segments @Solo I hope the sniffles fade away as the target HM draws near. I increased the length of the jog segments in my jog/walk sessions to 8 minutes today without any complaint from the knee. Swelling is now scarcely perceptible. |

Welshpoppy that sounds painful but could have been a lot worse I guess. Canute and Alehouse, congrats on your respective run/walk programmes which seem to be going well. Sounds sensible solo- remind me, which half? TS, I also did Morpeth to Newcastle many times on new years day. Fantastic 10 mile PB by the way. I assume you got a silver medals at M2N. I met the required standard (1:29 for 14 miles) three times. The last in 2001- the last year of the race. Taper going ok. 2k swim and a 5 mile run today. |

I see no signs of taper madness @OO61 π It is the Great Eastern at Peterborough an England masters qualifier race although I still haven't registered for that part of the race. If I did qualify the representative race is in Swansea and a long way to travel. Undecided at the moment but will do the HM irrespective. It is a very fast course
